About Fries Tallman Lumber (1976) Ltd
Fries Tallman Lumber is one of the oldest independently owned retail lumber yards in Saskatchewan.
It was started in 1956 by George Fries and Gord Tallman. Art Stricker started as a bookkeeper in 1958, then became a partner in 1976 and retired in 2001. Kevin Stricker, the current owner of Fries Tallman Lumber make every effort to follow the same philosophy of the original owners and the owners that followed them, including Kevin’s dad. Our vision is to provide exceptional service and products to our community with our core values of integrity, innovation, and teamwork in mind.
With a combined knowledge of over 205 years in the lumber and building material industry, our sales team can provide assistance with your building projects and renovations, new home construction or general repairs. We have a large showroom displaying the many products we sell which allow our customers to “touch and feel” the products before buying.

In Memory of Joan Marie Stricker (nee Herauf)
Fries Tallman Lumber had the great pleasure of having Joan on our team. She was a leader and a partner who had a huge influence on the FTL family and culture. She worked with FTL from February 15th, 1998 until September 22, 2019, wearing multiple hats, as she had many skills and areas of expertise. She played a huge part in cycle counts on Inventory, IT, accounting, special projects and keeping Kevin in check. She had no problem putting on her work boots and getting things set up or back in order. Our decking compound never looked as good as when she took it over. You always knew when Joan was around as her voice and her laughter were hard to miss. She was passionate about helping others as her many acts of community service show. She brought much joy into the lives of her friends and family and will be missed greatly. Joan lived her life fully while living and struggling with mental illness for over 25 years. May she rest in Peace.
