★ ★ ★ ★ ★ While visiting Crowsnest for snow shoeing we decided to stop by the Interpretive centre. I have to say it was well worth it and a great experience to get to know the history of the rock slide how it impacted the community and the current monitoring systems that are in place today.
They are also an great place to stop by for hiking maps and some recommendations!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were here nice and early in the morning and practically got a guided, personal tour of the museum from Henry. It was lovely to be walked though and have things explained to us with such a personal touch. Will for sure be back!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Obviously closed due to COVID but I’m really looking forward to it all being open again so we can come back and enjoy the experience. I remember coming here years ago on a school trip - and it being super memorable and a cool experience. My husband had never been here before so I’m hoping we can experience it all together soon.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The centre pays tribute to the people who survived and those that perished in the Frank slide tragedy in 1092 as well as the Hillcrest mining tragedy in 1914.
The centre provided you not only with historical information but also with current data and research on Turtle mountain/ Frank slide.
From the moment you walked in you feel welcomed by the amazing and knowledgeable staff. You will find so much history and details about the history of the town. I recommend to watch the movies, well worth your time.
Plan to stay at least one hour but I think two hours is worth it. They close at 5:00pm and the last showing of a movie is at 4:30pm.
Also, I was pleasantly surprised to see how well maintained and how clean the washrooms are. The lady who cleans them is constantly in and out after guests finished to use them. We came twice to the center and I saw the same lady doing a wonderful job!
Outside your can find some picnic tables if you need a break too.
This place is a must stop on your way to Waterton.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The power of the “moving” Turtle Mountain. A great lesson for us to collaborate and esteem our Indigenous people and First Nations before you put a spade or a drill in the ground. Very enlightening and heroism. Many stories.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a spiritual place, where parts of a mining town and its inhabitants lie buried under a huge pile of rubble from Turtle Mountain. The Indigenous people of the area called it the moving mountain. They knew about its temperament. My only disappointment is that I visited on a Monday and the interpretive centre was not open.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Interesting interpretive centre, but the highlight for me was the hike through the slide. Be sure to grab a brochure or it’s just a bunch of rocks. We still had fun coming up with our own interpretations :-) A unique experience!
