Do not stay here!! Wouldn't recommend a homeless person to stay here for free!! Heating dosen't work, hot water is also an issue in the morning. Water is shut off almost once every week. Good luck getting on the elevator. Have had multiple leaks in my room that damaged my TV, table even my bed. Been harassed multiple times by security without any complaints. Management is not there to help. And if all this dosen't make your life miserable then the trains will. Forgot to mention the room stinks of sewage at least twice a week, closer to the weekends.

Not a safe place to live in. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. 1. Our vehicle was broken into TWICE in a “secured parking” for $xxx/month parking fee, its not worth it. So we decided to just park on the streets. 2. The fire alarm goes off sometimes twice a week and when there’s an ACTUAL FIRE the alarm didn’t went off. 3. Water shutdown atleast TWICE a month. Sometimes more with very short notice. 4. One of the security guard is so creepy. Would comment on how I dress, look and would stare like there’s no tomorrow. 5. Last week, me and my fiancé were on isolation waiting to be tested as we had symptoms. We are parked on the streets and had to move our vehicle every 2hrs so we don’t get towed or a ticket. We called the office to see if they can give us temporary parking (willing to pay) so we can avoid contact with other people. It was handled very poorly. The only solution they give is to park 3 blocks away for longer parking hours. (meaning we will have more contact with other people. This was when the rules have changed again and we are legally required to isolate). Overall not happy and just waiting for our contract to be over to leave this place. Poor management, and very unsafe.

Generally really good place to live, nice thick walls and good renos. You can walk to everything and there's nice amenities for entertainment. Maintenance responds quickly and fixes issues well. 24x7 security is good, and the guards are very friendly and helpful. Kayla in particular provides professional and friendly service, while the rest of the team is always ready to help. There are issues with the fire alarm system going off when water leaks - it would be awesome if that stopped. Elevators are also sometimes an issue, there are 4, one is constantly down while they upgrade and when 1 of the other 3 is down it makes for long waits.

The management at this building is awful to deal with They absolutely do not care about the quality of the of apartment and make it very clear that they value profit over the safety and comfort of their tenants. They do not care if you’ve lived here for a week or 10 years, they will absolutely brush you under the rug and tell you it’s not their problem. Unresolved flooding issues, parking nightmares, shoddy maintenance and zero effort is what you’ll find if you move in here. Be sure you have VERY good renter’s insurance, even better car insurance and a good nest egg of savings you’re willing to say goodbye to if you decide to move in.

They literally lost my lease. I had to provide them with a copy... Elevators are usually half broken. The rental agents are difficult to contact and have no problems sending you multiple automated e-mails at midnight (I wish I was kidding) even after it was them who made the error and would not respond to multiple e-mails trying to fix the problem. Pluses: Exceptional amenities, awesome views (above 6th floor) and a really professional and courteous security staff. Only you can decide if the hassle is worth it.

I have currently stayed at this location for three years. In this time the property management team lost my lease and direct banking information. They only show pictures of their renovated suites online when most aren’t. I’ve had my laundry basket stolen from their laundry room. There is not adequate heat in the winter because as I was told their furnace can’t keep up with demand so instead they offered me a space heater. I’ve also never lived at a place where the water was turn off monthly. All in all this place is horrible located in a horrible unsafe part of town. The property staff are rude and unhelpful. Honestly, the list goes on and on. I’ve finally had enough and I’m in the process of moving good riddance.

I was visiting this property last month where my friend lived as I was looking for an apartment. Building was clean and tidy. My friend who lives at the building had a medical emergency in the lobby, the blonde female security guard, Kayla, was quick to act and contacted EMS for us and stayed with my friend and I while we waited. I will be looking into this property more as competent building security is important to me when choosing a place to live, especially in downtown.

Not sure why everyone is so negative in these reviews. While not luxury apartments (have reasonable expectations), First on Tenth is probably the closest you'll get while paying what we pay here. Water shutoffs are common in old buildings (less than once a month really isn't that bad) and busy elevators are just part of living in a highrise. Believe me, there's worse things to experience in an apartment building. The unit is pest free, and honestly that's enough to get 5 stars from me. It's an older building (1985 I believe), but there's been a lot of renovations, and Hazelview has put more work and care into this building than any of my previous property managers have. The amenities are great, staff have made us feel welcome, and the units feel modern and quite luxurious compared to what you'd pay this price for in other cities, or even in other parts of Calgary. Our unit is on the north side, and the views are incredible. One downside, though, is the trains. This is far from just a First on Tenth problem (I imagine it affects nearly every building in the Beltline and good chunks of downtown as well) though, and there's nothing they can really do about it. Sleep with your windows closed and you won't really notice them at all - noise is just part of living in a big city. Again, there are worse living conditions, especially considering some of the other buildings we've seen in Calgary. All in all, it's a great building. Some flaws, of course, but nowhere's perfect.
