★ ★ ★ ★ ★ While the Fairmont Resort does have some redeeming qualities, it fails in far too many significant ways and is probably best avoided. It should also not be confused with having any association with Fairmont hotels which are generally a far better experience.
Our biggest complaint about our stay at the Fairmont resort was that when we booked we were told the room would be wheelchair accessible. When we arrived it definitely wasn't with no way to reach the room without passing stairs. When we complained it was suggested that we could cross the grass outside and enter the room that way which was not an acceptable approach.
A second issue is the lack of latches on the doors. I've stayed at a lot of hotels and I can't remember ever being in one that didn't allow me to latch the door from the inside. A few years ago I wouldn't have cared but when you're staying in a room with a toddler it's an extremely important feature. Without a latch I was constantly having to keep my toddler away from the door and had to resort to piling heavy objects by it to prevent a curious child from wandering away in the night while I slept.
The rest of the resort was nice enough and kept well enough. The pool was nice but nothing special. You have a hard time convincing me it was any better than any other pool and nowhere hear as nice as the springs just up the highway in Radium. It's just a shame they failed in such significant ways.
