Golden Beach Resort

Visited the first time at the end of August and had a great family getaway. The resort offers so many activities and very kid friendly. We even had lunch at the restaurant on the resort and the food was delicious! We're definitely coming back!

The ad states that it is a hotel. It is not. There are condo's that are available for rent (4 seasons) and the park model trailers available to rent (3 seasons). Enjoy your vacation to the fullest by taking advantage of all of the activities and amenities.

We rented a trailer/cottage, it was spacious, comfortably fit 4-6 ppl. With a nice view of the lake. Has a bunch of amenities, for example; a pool, restaurant, convenient store etc...events are also hosted by the park. When we went there was a farmers market in the morning and fireworks at night. Definitely a place I would go again.

We stayed in Condo 7U. Small family of 4 and we barely fit. Only 3 dinner chairs at the table. Shower was 2’x2’ NOT Exaggerating. Zero room to move in the shower. Condo door had fire safety latch. Slammed every time it opened. Neighbors on the bottom were cooking a cooler full of bluegill (way over limit) and their door sounded like a shot gun going off every time they closed it - about 30 - 40 times an hour for 2.5 hours (once again NOT an exaggeration). Had to eventually go down and ask them to close it quieter. Which they apologized for and we only heard it close one more time later in the evening. A/C work very well. Which is a huge plus. It was 35 with a 42 humidex. Some of the park lost power but our side stayed on thank goodness. Food at the restaurant was sub par at best. I’m pretty sure the pizza was frozen. The wings had zero flavour and hair. The service was very good. The staff was friendly and gave good service. The staff at the park all seemed very polite and eager to help or answer questions. Will give their customer service a 10. The “beach” is about 30ft of waterfront. There were over 100 people crammed into their “beach” area. Smoking, drinking (which is fine in moderation and even excess as long as people with children don’t have to listen to your fowl mouth or smell your smoke) and encroaching in your personal space was the theme unfortunately. The raft was being used as a submarine. Looked extremely dangerous when the overweight kid was purposely standing on one corner and raising the other side completely out of the water. Small children were being flung and thrown off when he would jump in. Once again this was being done on purpose with zero regard for the small children also trying to enjoy the raft. A very loud jacked up pickup truck hauling a large boat also attempted to launch. The inebriated driver drove over the launch, took out a bike, and almost took out two children before one beach goer stopped and directed him into the launch. Oh, oversized tires couldn’t clear the turn before ripping the under flap of passenger side wheel well off. He continued on anyway disregarding the damage and the loud crunching sound it made. Pool was extremely warm and overcrowded. Kids pool was filthy with bugs and leaves but at least it was cool. Trick or treating was a huge hit for my kids. A lot of the owners decorated and had Jell-O shots for adults which was awesome. The candy being handed out set a new standard for Halloween for my kids. Full size candy bars and TONS of it. Very enjoyable and the bulk of the park were extremely friendly. There were a few disgruntled half inebriated people but whatever. Nothing that really was worth thinking twice about. I do not recommend visiting this park. Resort is an overstatement. A day trip to Mara would have been a way better bang for the buck. For the cost we paid for Golden we could have had two full days at Great Wolf and had a lot more amenities at our disposal.

Had a great few days here. Rented cottage 17, it was very nice. Lost a star because shower drain was soooo slow the tub filled as you showered. Resort itself was great! Kids had a blast at the beach, in the pool , and running through the splash pad! Also got in some fishing.

Some things I loved and some I did not like at all. It was nice to have a restaurant for dining. Food was very good and service great. Store is well stocked and staff friendly. Snack bar was not open I assume due to COVID. Also hot tub closed for probably the same reason. Transient sites extremely small. Never had a site that close to someone else before and I've been camping for years. Did not care for adult hour at the pool between 3 and 4. Pool clears out so a very small group can swim. Disappointing to families with young children or grandchildren. They have to kill an hour before returning to the pool.

Unexpected power outage,so inconvenient but no one's fault. But policy changes are not for the better,charging $17.00 a night for a child,absolutely wrong, such greed , please rethink your policy changes. Really don't appreciate paying in full 3 days before I arrive ? not fair!!!
