About Exquisite Gold & Gems Inc
Exquisite Gold & Gems, Thunder Bay’s Jewellery Store, is a locally owned store with a long history in the community. In 1986, John (Chuck) Sandford became a personal jeweller, selling hand-picked gold jewellery to a small, close-knit group of customers. His interest in gold and gems grew, and Chuck enrolled at George Brown College to become a goldsmith, learning the craft and business from the inside out. He returned to Thunder Bay to open his first store in Westfort, building his clientele on trust, great service, and of course exquisite pieces.
As his clientele grew, so did his store. In 1991, Chuck opened his first Thunder Bay store at 108 E. Frederica St. In 1995, the store moved to 133 W. Frederica St. and then to Arthur Street Marketplace (Thunder Bay Mall) at 1101 W Arthur St. in 2001. Chuck expanded to his largest showroom space yet at our current location, 1094 Memorial Ave., in 2012.
Chuck continued to expand his knowledge as well, training as a gemologist at the Gemological Institute of America. He is one of only two Certified Appraisal Professionals from Winnipeg to Elliot Lake.
Today, Exquisite Gold & Gems continues to focus on the values that helped them become Thunder Bay’s Jewellery Store: personal service, the highest level of expertise, and an eye for exquisite jewellery that is sure to thrill and delight Thunder Bay clientele.

I can't stop looking at it! Jenna was wonderful to deal with and she exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this business.

I wore them the next day and noticed the claws on this ring were catching on my clothes. One claw was sticking straight up.
I took it back to the store and asked if they can fix. The claws were the reason this ring was brought in. They accused me of pulling the claw some how.
I was told that he'd fix it because he needed money to fix his Porsha.
Poor customer service and poor workmanship. 2 of 4 rings were returned with issues. These issues were not fixed and my attempt to have them fixed were met with rudeness and attitude I did not expect.
The rings are still in need of repair.

Will be sure to share this experience with family and friends. Rudeness is the the demeanor, not customer help. People wonder why we shop out of town, this store is one of the reasons why!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When we went wedding band shopping, we said we would also be looking around at different places before we made a decision, so they wrote out our ring measurements for us to take with us and wished us luck in our search.
The service was attentive and welcoming, and we felt respected and valued as customers, even though we were clearly not looking to spend a vast amount of money.
After checking out the other places, I went back on my own for a second look, and found a ring that I’ll be happy to wear for the rest of my life.
My fiancé and I returned to the store and again we were treated like gold ?
I heartily recommend this jewellery store because they made for a great first and final shopping experience. What a great way to prepare for our wedding!
