About Pita Pit

Lebanese-style pita sandwichesWhen Pita Pit began back in 1995, Braveheart was Best Picture, Seinfeld was all the rage, the Worldwide Web was just taking off and the DVD was new—and a major innovation.

So was the idea that drove Nelson Lang and John Sotiriadis to open their first Pita Pit in Kingston, Ontario.

Today’s trend toward healthier eating was still a long way off, but Nelson and John were ahead of the curve. They were convinced the time was right to offer a fresh, healthy alternative to traditional high-fat, high-carb, high-calorie fast foods. Their Lebanese-style pita sandwiches packed with fresh veggies, grilled meats and zesty sauces were an instant hit with the college and university crowd, especially since the store stayed open late—well into the wee hours of the morning, making it perfect for students taking a break from studying or coming home after a night of partying.

Within two years, franchise stores had begun opening right across Canada. Two years later, they were opening in the USA where the concept took off immediately with consumers of all ages.

Today, there are more than 650 Pita Pit stores in North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.

Clearly, Pita Pit’s “fresh thinking, healthy eating” motto is an idea whose time has come.

Speechless. As an person from Southern Ontario and not from the area I decided to try Pita Pit. The last time I tried it was in my childhood and I was set on never coming back, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. I was also practicing a fast and was quite starving, upon entrance I was greeted by a very friendly staff member who was more then welcome to take my order. I ordered a regular pita and boy was I surprised. The vegetables were cooked fresh in front of me with even the sauces being switched out for new ones. Keep in mind I had ordered a regular burrito, when the staff member had started putting the burrito together he was sure to be very kind and considerate and incredibly generous instead of being conservative and cheap. The burrito had tasted amazing, and ranks amongst one of the best things I have tried. If you have not already stopped by here I ASK you to do so, the ambience of the store was wonderful and clean interior wise. They also offer a variety of fruit smoothies and had a vast menu selection. I am not only grateful for the wonderful staff member but instead every time I went there it was a memorable and wonderful experience. Honestly I am at a loss of words for how good the food was. Please try it for yourself to see!

People are nice but sometimes they don't toast the pita. Also don't get the chicken it's always gonna be cold

Usually I like it here. Today was not good. Pita fell apart and I watched the person take over 10 minutes to make a smoothie for someone in front of me. I was second in line and waited 20 minutes before I got my pita which burned up a good portion of my lunch. Not impressed

Was told it was only gonna take 20 minutes in my email and I showed up 25 minutes later to get it and they never even started it. Very disappointed. And they argue with me over my smoothie that I ordered wasn’t a regular and had to show the person the email confirmed it was a regular. Very unimpressed at all! If you don’t know how to do a pre order don’t take it!

35 freaking dollars for 2 pitas? Yeah, go to the grocery store and get 20 for this price. Used to love it here. Now the food quality has dropped harshly. The chicken isnt even real chicken anymore. Its that junk subway uses thats like 70% chicken or whatever. Very cheap on ingredients for the price. High price VERY low effort food from this business. The food tasted as manufactured as you would expect. Could you imagine working a whole hours minimum wage to afford to eat a manufactured pita? Sheesh. Skip this place. Not worth it.Do better man. I will not be coming back. Very disappointed. Particularly with the insultingly high price.

This is my new regular lunch spot. Their rice bowls, salads and smoothies are so delicious and so well made that I no longer have to stress myself to pack lunch from home. Also the staff is so friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable of their meals! I'll keep being a repeat customer!

Love the pitas from here! The staff member was very friendly and it wasn’t busy when I went so I was able to get my pita quiet quickly! I love that they fry up veggies if you’d like !

Awful. I'm a huge loyal pita pit customer and the staff here is friendly but there is for sure a lack of management and sanitary measures as the two staff members were cross contaminating food and the equipment with food. One of the staff pulled up their pants from behind and proceeded to put her hands in the " not so fresh or available" toping trays. This location has gone down hill and I am super disappointed. On the other hand the Arthur Street location is the place to be.
