About Manchu Wok
Our story begins in Peterborough, Ontario in 1980. We had only one location where customers would come to enjoy restaurant quality Chinese cuisine but in a quick service setting. The mall concept was born. The success of this first location generated demand throughout the province and soon spread across North America, prompting multiple store expansions over the next nine years. In 1989, Manchu WOK® thrived under new management which aggressively built the company’s growth momentum, particularly in the United States. Through the 90’s, Manchu WOK® was made more accessible to fans of Asian cuisine by gaining greater exposure in non-traditional markets, such as Universities and Airports. By 2004, the chain made its mark overseas by bringing the Manchu WOK® brand to Guam and Japan. We are soon approaching our fourth decade in the quick service restaurant (QSR) business and have been fortunate enough to be recognized as a leader in this business. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Manchu Wok has always been my go to resto anywhere in Canada. This one in Thunder Bay is thumbs down — the servings are small, the only one that has a big serving is rice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I love this place. But last year it was better. I think they changed cooks. Maybe one year before. They were often closed during covid. I still like it buts not as it used to be Thunder Bay location. I’d like to find he cook they used to have.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was so happy to see open after it had been closed during the pandemic and for kitchen renovations. The prices have increased, I paid $30 for two 2 item dinners. The food quality and quantity has really gone downhill. The sweet and sour pork was very fatty and had one good piece out of the entire serving. They used to have the best honey garlic chicken, but now there is a thicker coating of bread and the sauce is not the same. The rice portion is about half of what it used to be. The only good thing about the whole meal was the chicken balls, which were tasty but half the size of what the used to be I will not be going back sadly. Used to be my favourite place to eat in the mall.
