★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not one to air my personal issues but given the sensitive nature of work that psychologists are entrusted with—as caregivers for mental and emotional wellness to people in need—I really felt compelled to warn others who might be searching for support to go elsewhere. Their policy penalizes clients for last minute cancellations (which is to be expected) and yet 2 out of 2 sessions I’ve tried to book here have had to get rescheduled last minute. As far as client-therapist working relationships go, not at all a good start and frankly, it’s irresponsible how little regard is given to the needs of the client. The impacts of such disregard can have lasting negative affects for people who have worked hard to step out of their comfort zone to seek help to begin with.
Sure, life happens and emergencies do come up but you only get one chance to establish trust with a new psychologist. I gave this individual TWO and yet given their track record thus far, I cannot trust that she wouldn’t cancel a third, fourth or fifth time. And that’s simply unacceptable in this field of work.
Access to quality mental healthcare is difficult enough as it is already, but at $200/hour, it’s honestly so disappointing and discouraging to have had this experience with a private clinic right off the jump. You deserve care, attention and a safe place—based off my experience, I cannot say Equinox Therapeutic offers any of these things.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My partner and I did not have a good experience attempting to book with equinox. We were interested in working with Justin given his profile on the equinox website, which stated he worked with couples and seemed to have a person centered approach that was less focused on psychological theory.
In speaking with Mandy, the receptionist, we were informed Justin was not currently taking clients, and she anticipated he would not have any openings upcoming. We asked to be waitlisted and she said he did not have a waitlist. Mandy was also not aware that he worked with couples to begin with and asked if it said so on his profile. Despite her unawareness she felt confident saying he was not taking couples clients at this time.
I asked if she could ask him if he could recommend someone with a similar therapeutic approach, and she said she didn't think this was something that therapists did. This is very unusual, as in my experience therapists generally want to help people and are usually familiar with other professionals whom they trust and recommend. I asked if she could pose the question, and she agreed, however I never heard back.
She was quite pushy about us booking with the only therapist they have who has availability for couples at this time. It felt like she did not have the time or patience for our questions, and her sole interes was having us book with a practitioner we weren't interested in.
