I broke down in Lacombe Enterprise told me on the phone they had cars available to rent in Red Deer, I took a $50 cab to Red Deer from Lacombe, and was told that there was no cars available. There was none at the other places in RD either. So after spending $50 to get there, I had to wait 3 hours for a friend to drive and pick me up to take me to Calgary to pick up a rental car in Calgary. There was at least two other people here with the same issue. One guy was called and told the vehicle was ready for pickup and he works nights, was woken up and it wasn’t here yet for them to even clean it or anything like that, he’s standing here waiting still for it. Now there’s someone else at the counter, same thing.

Bad customer service. ? I had to attach a car seat base in the shuttle for my 4 month baby and the driver was clearly not wanting to be patient and said "do you even have a kid with you". I obviously wouldn't be connecting a base if I didn't but I appreciate the courtesy in asking if i have a kid instead of asking if I need help because it's -32 outside same when I got to enterprise he looked irritated that I needed to disconnect the base. I also needed to rent and SUV but they only had cars I was obligated to leave my sons stroller at Fix Auto overnight and I can't pick it up until I get a larger vehicle equivalent to my vehicle. The car was dirty and I asked the guy if he could clean it and he told me that the dirt was frozen onto the car and can't be washed off. Yuk.

I was referred to Enterprise Rent -A- Car by my insurance company in order to rent a car while my own vehicle was being repaired. When I arrived at Enterprise I was told that there were no vehicles, however I could be placed on a wait list and would be number 10 in line. This was a baffling and unsatisfactory experience to say the least. If you are in need of a car and can somehow give advanced notice things may work out for you.

Was super difficult to get a vehicle was without a car for a day because of their errors. All they needed was to hear my insurance company say “it’s covered under us” but after 40mins on hold with my insurance they told me they could contact them. Not sure why they waited to contact them especially when I was told multiple times over the phone that it was ready. Had to come back the next day after calling again and dealing with a manager. They still did not have all the info they needed when I arrived regardless of them calling and saying it was ready to go. The insurance company did not understand what they needed either. Do not recommend.

UPDATE: changed my star rating based on receiving follow up from the management team on my issue. They reviewed our claim, and waived all damage fees. We are very happy with this outcome as we expressed previously, we did not make any damage to the vehicle while under rental from us. Thank you Enterprise! Very disappointed in the process of this organization. Upon pickup of rental, a staff member performs a walk around of the vehicle where we look at any previous marked damage to which they use a tool if scratch is bigger then 2”. Windshield was documented in my case as it had a crack across the whole surface. All other scratches that I pointed out were just “surface scratches so not an issue.” And there were quite a few so I stopped pointing them out. Upon rental return, I get blamed for a “new scratch” that is bigger then their tool of 2”. Vehicle was parked the full 3 1/2 days and 100% positive this was not done during the duration of renting. Because I didn’t take my own photos or videos at the initial walk around, and because I can’t prove it, it’s my fault. Well I can’t prove that this scratch was there previously so how should I take the full blame. They only take photos of what that particular staff member feels is damage. Now we are on the hook for a $300 damage deductible that I’m not even guaranteed the damage is $300 nor that it will get fixed and they just pocket that money. This poor policy with Enterprise is setup to scam renters and pay for damage that was previously there or worse, keep the money to make more of insurance policy holders. Be aware and take your own photos or videos before renting from them!!

!!AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU CAN!! Unbelievable lack of service focus. My insurance company, intact insurance, utilizes enterprise in red deer to fulfill the rentals for hail / damage claims for the duration of repairs. Booked my car in at the repair shop and the reservation was made by the Repair shop on Dec 20th. In January I confirmed it to ensure a compatible vehicle for commutes to Calgary. Today Feb 7th, I was left stranded at repair shop. The repair Shop gave me a lift home. Repair shop called enterprise with the reservation number and called me to say enterprise would contact me. They never did so I called and enterprise basically told me I’d take what they gave me the next morning and they didn’t have any reservation prior to 12:20 that day. Also “advised” they make no guarantees to the insurance company about “vehicle in kind” and an insurance company complaint won’t matter. AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU CAN!

Make sure you take pictures of every square inch of the vehicle before you bring it back. I barely drove my rental and there was no damage on drop off at the end of my rental time. When I brought the car back, the first staff member said it looked good, passed the inspection. A few hours later I got a phone call from a second staff member saying they took the car for a car wash and found damage. They wanted my insurance info to submit a claim. I refused because there was no damage on the car when I dropped it off, and it passed inspection at drop off. I am not responsible for the car after I drop it off and hand the keys back to them. It caused a lot of unnecessary stress and I recommend if you need to deal with them, cover yourself and document everything!!!

Here is recent experience. Booked a car from the ones shown as available to be picked up at noon. Morning of the pick up, i got a phone call that they are waiting for cars to be returned so no cars are available. Asked to call closer to pick up to confirm. Attempted to call multiple times, now waiting on the line for 24 minutes as i type this... nobody picks up the phone. What a terrible experience! I get that they rely on returns to provide cars but why would you show 5 different types of rental cars available at this location when there is actually none available. Why are staff not answering phone calls when they ask to call back... even to just acknowledge that they are with someone and they'd get back to me... I get that rental car business is not a glorious industry.... but seems that Red Deer location for Enterprise is quite mismanaged since my experience is not the outlier here based on discussions with co workers. Edit: Update. Got through to them on the phone. NO cars available and there is a waitlist ... why in the world they allow to reserve a car online when nobody can get a car. Avis in Red Deer has pretty bad reviews but at least they had cars on the lot.
