About DSG Power Systems (Saskatoon Diesel)

Percy Hoff Snr.

President and CEO

Driven by my values for social justice and equality, I left my native South Africa in 1982 and immigrated to Canada, in search of a better life for my young family.

The creation of DSG POWER SYSTEMS (formerly Saskatoon Diesel Services) in 1983 gave me a chance to express my passion for diesel-powered equipment, which I developed from the age of about 13, learning about diesels in my father’s transportation business.

I am extremely proud of the fact that DSG is a multi-cultural organization that has created many well-paid jobs over the years, within a culture that values human dignity, tolerance, respect and is driven by a desire to be the very best at what we do. I can truly say that since the inception of this business, my passion for it has never waned.

I have been using DSG 4 + products for a number of years. They work like they claim my injector issues are nil. Using 4+ Products is cheap insurance to keep my equipment running in top notch shape.

We are a 3000ac small family farm. We grow cereals & canola. We have been using 4+ Premium and Arctic on the farm for the last 10 years. We use it in all the tractors and diesel trucks around the farm. It most definitely extends fuel filter life, start ability & lubricity. We originally started using the premium fuel conditioner for water in fuel issues from overhead fuel tanks. We have since swapped over to a 10,000l and 2 4000l ground storage tanks. We no longer have water issues but continue to use this product . It pays for itself.

I can't thank Glen and the group at DSG enough. I had a very unfortunate issue with my 10 year old generator (which was not purchased at DSG). I thought I was completely out of reasonable solutions. After some discussions with Glen they came through with a solution tailored to my situation and within my budget. Turned a very disappointing situation into one with a positive outcome. Showed a flexibility and willingness to work with the customer that I would class as above and beyond. I would definitely reccomend DSG and will work with them on my future needs.

Took my generator in for some warranty work - engine problems. DSG called back a few days later and let me know that everything would be covered and that they would replace the engine under warranty. Great news. They called back a couple of weeks later that it was done and ready for pickup, and that there would be a $75 administration charge for the work because I did not buy the generator from them, although they are an authorized sales/service center for the brand. I was not told about the charge until after the work was completed and Phillipe was unapologetic about the charge. While I understand that the generator manufacturer may not give you a good rate/sufficient hours to complete the warranty work, that is not my problem and you should discuss that issue with them rather than surprising customers with charges that were not previously agreed to. If I would have known about the charge before the work was completed, I would have happily taken it elsewhere for repairs. Making up fees as you go is a poor business practice. And yes, I did not purchase the generator from you initially because your price was close to double where I can purchase the same unit elsewhere.

DSG charged me over $1000 for some major injection pump work they didn't even do. I brought my 1993 Mitsubishi Pajero in to have the injection pump looked at. It was leaking diesel, and there is a well known issue with the trucks where the front seal begins to leak, causing a very characteristic stalling issue. DSG assured me that the front seal was probably fine and it would make the job more difficult and expensive to also do the front seal, but I told them I would pay the cost to have it done, and even provided the seal. Fast-forward 2 years later, I now work on my own vehicles. I'm still having the characteristic stalling problem of the front seal issue. I pull the injection pump, which is a full day job, and Lo and behold the original Mitsubishi seal is still installed. DSG had not done the job as they have claimed to, and just pocketed my provided Zexel seal. Attached is a photo of my invoice, which describes exactly what I outlined, as well as the original Mitsubishi seal I pulled out of my pump. Go somewhere else.

Well to start off my truck wasn't being worked like any other 2500 should be. It was baby driven and never seen a trailer or weight in the box before. Wife had driven it to work for a year and a half. Had codes pop up that my turbo vanes were getting plugged and there wasn't really a way to unplug them until my friend and his dad told me about the 4+ they've run in there trucks. So I took a chance since they've been running it for years and years, and have been going to DSG in Saskatoon for a long time I took their word. I came in and talked with Trent and another young guy and came to the conclusion I could maybe try a additive but it may be to late and would have to spend thousands on a new turbo. But I took a chance and bought the 4+ super clean(purple bottle). I then went home and loaded my truck box full of weight, I have filled the box with 2x8s. It only recommends to pour in a small amount for each time you fill up but was told to try a whole bottle at a time. With all that weight now on I dumped in a whole liter of the 4+ super clean with a fresh full tank of fuel. Then proceeded to work the truck till it got up the running temperature and would do a few pulls down the highway and floor it from stop light lights or just speed up fast to make the truck work and get hot. I did this for a whole month using the 4+ super clean making sure a added a liter to every full tank fuel up. At the end off the month I removed the weight and noticed the truck was running great, no hiccups or engines codes. I ran the truck for the next 2 years with no more codes of any sort before I ended up selling it. Since then iv always bought 4+ additive and won't go back to anything else. The truck I used it in was a 2011 Chevy 2500 6.6 duramax with 280,000km on it. I currently own a 2005 Chevy 2500 6.6 duramax with 320,000km on it and I still run 4+.
