About Downtown Calgary Montessori Child Care

Dr. Maria Montessori believed that one method does not fulfill everyone’s requirement since learning capacity, interests, and pace vary for every individual. To fill this gap, she created an environment that is capable of accommodating an abundance of activities and interests. Thus, she formulated the idea of the Montessori method of education that concentrates on the needs of every single child. Here, children are taught as they learn through their passions. Eventually we prepare the children to learn naturally, and not conditionally.

Based on her observations on what children enjoy to do, she designed several methodologies and tools for the sensorial, practical, lingual and cultural developments. In order to have a self-directed learning environment, the entire atmosphere, including the classroom, materials, and social setting has to be child friendly and supportive. In a Montessori school, all the required resources along with a platform for a safe and positive environment is provided. A relationship based on trust and respect is developed between the child and us, and this nurtures self-confidence and motivation in the child to try new things in life.

This methodology was exclusively built to bring in a right balance between the freedom of education and a structured approach for small children. In this methodology of teaching, the children learn in an exciting and motivating environment, where all the activities are well formulated to meet the needs of the kids.

I did quite a research on daycares and chose this for my son. When the owners changed and started the Montessori curriculum I was a bit debating if that is the right program for my children taking in account their temper. Right now I can say that this is definitely one of the best decisions ever - to go to that daycare. DCMCC combines all the aspects I valued in Tiny Tikes (going to park, hot lunches, reasonable price etc) and has super interesting program (with study on planet, practical life, cultures and much more) with fun stuff like lemonade making or cookies baking (I would not mind participating in such activities myself). My children love being here!

They not only teach Montessori but teach how to have fun and respect each other. Our child is writing, reading and learning different languages. This is a wonderful place!

The carers have all been fantastic - caring and attentive. She is definitely well looked after there and looks forward to going each day. Highly recommend!

I found the DCMCC to be very professional and this was my first exposure to the Montessori system. I found my son coming home learning a variety of new things and amazed us on his knowledge of the water cycle, different types of wild plants, etc. Overall I feel they have a really good program, passionate staff and to top it all, I love their outdoor space.

I've heard daycare horror stories from friends and consider ourselves so lucky to have found such an amazing place for her! She has learned so much, the staff truly care and I've never once questioned our decision to send her there. I would not hesitate to recommend this daycare. The fees are extremely reasonable and I have peace of mind knowing she's getting the best care.

The caregivers show true love and compassion for each of the kids which I have seen first hand when my son runs into their open arms when I drop him off. Another example is when my son ended up getting a fever and they called me to come and pick him up- when I showed up one of his caregivers was rocking him and singing to him in a nice quiet, dimly lit private room. It almost brought me to tears. In addition to the INCREDIBLE staff at the daycare, the Montessori concept has proven to be a great fit for my son. The things he learns from daycare always shocks me and his ability to complete tasks independently makes both of our lives more pleasant. Could not recommend this place more!
