I can't say enough about Doggie Basics. I have the utmost confidence in Dee, Julio and their team and I learn so much from them every time I visit on how to interact with and continue to train and grow with dogs. As a first time dog-owner, I will admit that I have been hyper vigilant about my dog's care. I can honestly say without question that I feel so confident in the Doggie Basics team and their ability to ensure a safe, fun, engaging and positive environment for our dog while she's at their daycare. Icing on the cake - they have a large outdoor place space which is so hard to find at doggie daycares, and our pup loves to be outside. I would recommend them any day to my closest family and friends.

My Pomeranian Whisky had an excessive barking problem. We would go for walks or drives and he would bark aggressively towards everything. After one class there was a dramatic improvement. With the skills their trainer provided me I was able to train him break him from the barking habit when we are out. I was ready to give up and Doggie Basics was able to have Whisky and us enjoy the outdoors. Thank you so much, Julio!

*Update to response from Doggie Basics**They claim my dog has separation anxiety. If he truly did, he wouldn't have been ok going to the two other daycares i brought him to that same week, for the first time to each, after months of being at home. Don't blame the dog for something that is clearly on how you handle them.*I can save you time and just say don't go to this place. If you want reasons, continue reading. Went for a trial/assessment for my two dogs to see if they'd be ok for daycare. Upon first meeting my first dog, instead of petting and saying hello and such as every other daycare place I've been to has done when first meeting the dogs for assessment, the assessor remains reserved and seemed almost scared (can't imagine how you can run a dog daycare and be scared of any dog). To top things off, the dog is placed on a choking leash and is expected to not be anxious when their owner leaves and a reserved, possibly scared stranger brings an unknown and unfamiliar dog to meet. I can't imagine how a dog under assessment is suppose to remain calm while on a choking leash, about to be introduced to a unknown dog handled by an unfriendly and unwelcoming person. Just for a reference, I haven't been exercising my dogs as much as I used to for about 2 or 3 months so they haven't seen many other dogs or play with many for that matter. I went to 2 other daycare places this same week and my dogs were assessed and deemed fine. Bottom line this place is being handled by what appears to be an unwelcoming, unfriendly and untrained person.

I wanted my dog to go to this daycare. They gave me an assessment date a month down the road. They only assess the dogs on one day between a very specific time. They offered me no flexibility. I'm a single parent and can not afford to take off work. The fact they could offer me no flexibility outside of work hours or even on the weekend is ridiculous. I understood their logic for why they do it on a particular day between particular times but on a case by case basis they should be flexible and maybe offer something that works for the customer. That is why I wrote non responsive. They are not responsive to the customers needs.

Doggie Basics is like a second home for my dog Shiloh for the last 3 years. Dee and Julio are very skilled in looking after dogs, and manage daycare and boarding in a very thoughtful and professional way. They always factor in and assess dogs personality and needs at their daycare. They helped my dog after she was adopted (she was very anxious) and this is THE only place where I trust to l leave her for daycare or boarding. Doggie Basics space is very open and has a large yard - and this is great as many dogs enjoy being outdoors! Dee and Julio go above and beyond and truly cares for each dog - my dog was throwing up for 1 month, and the vet could not determine the cause after many tests. Dee took time out of her day, spoke over the phone to speak to her personal experience, and we were able to narrow down likelihood of food allergies. That level of personal experience and care is invaluable! I cannot say enough - I really appreciate all that they have done (and continue to do) for Shiloh. I would give 6 stars if I could! Thank you!

Our puppy completed her basic obedience training at Doggie Basics. It was a great experience and we have seen such an improvement in her confidence and behaviour. Thank you!

The owner Julio didn't make myself or my dog feel very welcomed. He made comments that my dog was hyper during the assessment where he tied him up to the front desk at reception and brought a small dog then a larger dog to meet him. Yes my dog was very excited to see other dogs and wanted to play! He's a one year old LAB so what does he expect. I followed up afterwards with emails asking about availability and days after he hadn't responded. While I was patiently waiting I realized this was not the right place to send my fun loving puppy to play.

I started bringing my dog to Doggie Basics about 5 months ago for daycare. I wanted him to socialize in an environment with professionals present to supervise, and structured play and rest times. I chose Doggie Basics because my sister brought her dog here and always raved about how professional and knowledgeable they were. This was very clear during our assessment. They were able to accurately describe my dog's behaviour. They have been very patient with him and always update me on his progress in daycare. I have seen a positive change in his behaviour at drop-off - he whines much less when I leave (he's more than happy to go in, he's just really attached to me). On days with poor weather conditions, the dogs use a treadmill so they always go home tired and happy! I recently started bringing my dog to training here for his leash reactivity. We have been to other trainers before but without a doubt, I have seen more progress and results in 2 sessions with Julio than we did in 12 sessions with our previous trainer. I am so impressed with our progress. Julio is very patient with us and he explains everything in detail. If you have a question about the training they are easily accessible by phone. They have always responded within a reasonable amount of time. I highly recommend them for both doggy daycare and training. Thank you Doggie Basics!!
