L	Lauren Gloanec on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Courtenay Ennis is a wonderful singing teacher, who approaches lessons with great enthusiasm for music, incredible knowledge of the most recent and evolving voice science, and humour and care for his students. I started taking lessons with Courtenay after completing my post-secondary training in musical theatre. At the time I was struggling with losing my voice frequently, due largely to a combination of bad habits in voice technique as well as acid reflux. Courtenay took the time to listen to previous recordings of me singing from before straining my voice, accompanied me to an appointment with my ENT, and patiently shared his knowledge and skills with me to help me reach my goals. He helped me build up my technique while showing compassion for the emotional journey of “re-learning” to sing took me on. In between times where I was taking lessons, I would even occasionally get emails from Courtenay with info from a new scholarly article or book referencing info that may be applicable to my specific vocal challenges. Years later, now as a theatre and music educator, I still return to Courtenay as frequently as possible to continue to improve my singing technique, knowing I will learn a great deal and have a wonderful time working with an amazingly kind and fun professional. I highly recommend Courtenay to any professionals who wish to continue developing their singing skills.

Courtenay translates his mastery of singing into accessible, engaging exercises and tools that not only teach the student what to do, but also how and why they're doing it. With an emphasis on techniques that he's discovered through his training with household name vocal instructors and specialists (Check out his resume!), beginner and professional alike will benefit greatly from Courtenay's teachings. Plus, he's a great guy to talk to. As an actor, the ability to sing is highly prized and often requested by film and TV projects...Many acting conservatories teach vocal technique, but limited only to breath, projection, and voice preservation. Courtenay created analogies between acting and singing that produced amazing results and personalized tools that I can implement on my own. I cannot praise and thank this man enough! When I struggle to grasp a concept or perform a particular phrase or technique, he knows exactly how to adjust his approach to help me understand it better. This is something that has proven to be genuinely priceless to me and my vocal progress.
