Cottage Care Rentals

Please note: I write this review to inform only. It is not meant in any way to discredit the team at CCR. I write about my experience only and ultimately my direct experience with the team was a pleasant one. My family just recently stayed at "Growler Lake, Paradise Found" cottage. The home is beautiful and the location is breathtaking. My family had a great time overall. Unfortunately we were a bit shell shocked at first. Apparently we were the first "renters" to arrive after the owners had just left. When we arrived after a long drive with 2 young kids, we entered a very dirty cabin that was at an ambient temperature of 31 degrees (owners had turned off AC 2 days prior to our arrival). We are a family that likes to wear bare or stalking feet inside rather than shoes (obviously the owners are different). The first walk from the entry doorway to the living area and our feet were black as coal. Once we set the thermostat as low as it could go so the cottage would slowly cool down - we immediately found the cleaning supplies we needed; luckily there is a central vac provided and we had a starter supply of paper towels and cleaner that I used to clean every bathroom and the kitchen while my wife vacuumed. The hot water tank had also been turned off by the owners, so no baths for the kiddos on the first night but Geoff from CCR was on site to fix the issue within 2 hours of my call. By the 2nd day, the cottage was clean and finally cooler than outside. So we could relax. Our standards of cleanliness are obviously different than the owners, which is fine - but there should be a note somewhere on the listing that says it is "rustic clean" or something of the sort. We assumed with a 250$ cleaning service fee, that the place would be "hotel clean" at least. The other issue we had is the landscaping. The lot is beautiful but terribly overgrown. The fire pit is virtually un-useable due to the overgrown vegetation and the associated bugs. The lawn area (nice area for water fights of badminton) is overgrown with weeds; even the steps off the deck has thorny weeds taller than me. The children's area/sandbox/beach is packed and hard and doesn't look like there has been "sand" there for quite some time as well. The lake is nice and quiet during the week, although it seems like lots of construction is starting in the area. When the other cottage- goers are also out on the water, be prepared to hear many motors running in a very small area. Fishing is nearly impossible when there are boats going on such a small footprint. The Cottage Care team was very receptive to my complaints, and hopefully they can take what I say with a grain of salt and make improvements (or not) for the next guests down the line. Overall my family (6 adults and 2 kids under 5) had a nice time. We are all relaxed after the week we spent there and ultimately the issues we encountered are minor in most cases.

Please read before booking with Cottage Care. Do not book with Cottage Care if you want to lose your security deposit! Our security deposit was not returned to us as “property checkers” claimed excessive cleanup and damage by our family. Certainly neither were present and the unfair assessment was stated to keep the funds. We had asked for pictures of proof and they came up with old pictures of property previously damaged! Excessive cleanup to them was leaving a sugar pack behind (they provided a picture of such!) In the near future, I will be sticking to renting cottages through Air Bnb!!!!

This will be the 3rd year in a row that my family and friends are renting from Cottage Care. We continue to come back because of the quality of the cottages and Don. He is the absolute best property manager and provides excellent service and genuinely cares about your vacation and wants to ensure you and your family have a great time. Until i buy my own cottage, i will continue to rent (and only rent) from Don at Cottage Care!

I have been working with Don and Cheryl for 3-4 years and will continue to work with them as they properly vet the guests that rent my cottage to find good people that take care of my property. I have had no issues from any guests and Don takes the time to come out and update photos and his cool new drone to take overhead videos!! I would highly recommend that you use Cottage Care Rentals if you care about your cottage!!

The Cottage Care Team has been fantastic throughout our whole rental experience. We listed our cottage through them and booked up all availability within a few short weeks. Our neighbors have told us that all of our tenants are respectful and courteous and have not upset the tranquil cottage environment that we value so much. The Team has a genuine interest in making sure any tenants are given the stay they have been promised and will do whatever it takes to rectify any problems that occur along the way.
