We order scallop rolls, and we got chicken roll. On top of that, the quality of the food has been dropping, too.
Before, we used to order from here very often, we found after COVID, everything has changed. The taste of food, quality of food, price of food, and delicate quality are all changed, not impressive ???
I could not believe that we got a wrong mixed rolls in our takeout.
It is understandable that the price goes up, however, I have never expect this thing to happen.
Very disappointed with This restaurant, and definitely not coming back ???

β β β β β Tried to see Chiba's dine in menu but keep getting redirected to Doordash. We wanted to eat in, not get delivery. These third party delivery services are a cancer that's taking over so many local restaurants. Went somewhere else for dinner after reading their menu online.

β β β β β Spider roll was alright but I also ordered katsudon - and when it didn't come after 45 mins, I checked with the kitchen and it wasn't even close to done yet. So I had it canceled. But honestly, it's the fact that they still charged me for the miso that came with the katsudon that bothers me. C'mon folks, we were the only 2 in there at the time.

β β β β β The owners are nice to converse with and are homely. The portions are generous. The wait isn't too long compared to some other Japanese restaurants in the city but I do understand whenever they're slower than their norm, it's because they got a sea of home deliveries they're on the clock for.
It's a shame they were forced to move to their current smaller location on Quadra, their new place doesn't have tatami rooms, one of the biggest charm to dine in. Blasted city; they're really trending hard to drive local restaurants away to take land and resell it to condo developers.
I encourage folks to try this place to show support for local businesses enduring trying times during the pandemic.

β β β β β I visited to this restaurant for take out. And I had to wait for 45 minutes for pick up.
I ordered chef special sashimi(9 kinds of sashimi), chicken teriyaki dinner entrees and 2 special rolls.
They said it took 30 minutes for ready. When I went back there after 30 minutes, it was not ready. I asked them how long should I wait more. They told me that it would be 10 more minutes.
So I waited for 10 minutes and went back to restaurant. Server said to me that it was not ready for it and I should wait for more minutes.
At that time, I saw the sushi bar. They started to make my chef special sashimi. After few minutes, FINALLY foods was ready.
When I opened food containers, I noticed that chef special sashimi was different from Menu picture. I expected that chef special but it was not. I uploaded picture that I had and compared with it. I think it does not look like 30 bucks chef special sashimi.
I really like to eat sushi and sashimi. But i Will NOT visit there again. I felt so sorry for my friends. Because it was for my friendβs celebration foods.

β β β β β Small restaurant but the fresh fish is one of the best I have have had in Victoria. The sushi chef is very talented and everything comes beautifully prepared. I highly recommend this restaurant good service and excellent food.

β β β β β Chiba is always amazing, fresh and worth it! Thank you for another great meal. Their new location is adorable and my wait time was half the time they had told me it was going to be when I placed my order. I canβt say enough great things about this restaurant :)
