Don't let the packed staging area, especially around Fall, deters you. This beautiful hike, especially with the larches at the end waiting for you, is more than make up for any "hassles". An inch of snow on my hat only made me appreciate it more. Yes, do come prepared. Layers of clothing, snacks, water, gloves, a light waterproof shell jacket, proper hiking shoes. Also a pair of hiking sticks will have your knees thanking you, and perhaps me too. I experienced the whole 4 season cramped into a single half day hike there! The view of the mountains are no less spectacular on your way back. Enjoy it all... for free!

Great trail that is massive and well kept. Super busy with people coming by the lake all day. Great spot to spend an afternoon catching some fish.

It's a beautiful area. The lake is pretty bland in winter but the creek and mountains are beautiful.

Beautiful hike, a bit steep for a while but not too bad. Elephant rocks are worth checking out. If it's winter, the trail is popular for cross country skiing and snow shoeing

Beautiful destination. The hike was fairly easy with the first 2.5 KM on a bit of an incline. Otherwise the rest of the hike was easy and worth the view. Overall this hike took us about 3.5 hours. We did stop many times to enjoy the views along the way and stopped for a snack to take in the beautiful blue/green lake, and field of assorted wild flowers

Great fall hike. Not long, most of the elevation in the first few kms, on wide gravel trails. As you get into the trees, the path narrows and the grade decreases. You pop out into beautiful meadows with larch views, and then it’s flat to the lovely little lake. I stayed at the top until just before sunset, and had no problem getting back to my car and through the gravel portion of the road before dark.

Nice straight forward hike. The start of the hike is through the trees and is the steepest part of the hike. There are a lot of icy stretches on the trail. The lake is just starting to ice over. We went a little farther to the Elephant Rocks. It is definitely worth the short walk to see them. The Grey Jays will eat right out of your hand. We recorded 12.3 KM and 422 M of elevation gain.
