Centurian Tower - Edmonton

How is this even rated 3 starts should be -1 Worst experience of my life renting here, hallways always dirty , management is useless, and lacks some serious customer service skills , and the walls were paper thin in my suite and the amount of noise that came from above was disturbing and the management kept making excuses, just laughable . I wouldn't live in that suite again for free.

The management (kindly) ignored my concern over the phone regarding furniture that has been left behind their building in the alley for 6+ months. A gross eyesore.

Unprofessional management. I lived in a rental apartment in Centurian Tower for six months. You can read my experiences: 1) when we were doing move in inspection, several items ( for example bath tub) were dirty and we wanted to check them but the manager said that it's the color of it and it cannot be cleaned any more. Later, when we cleaned them we found out they were actually dirty. 2) During winter, the snow in front of building was not cleared. The underground parking was not cleaned as well. 3) Once, they wanted to do pest control for cockroaches since our below apartment had cockroaches. They gave us a very late notice, less than 24 hours ! we had to pack everything we had in the middle of kitchen, bedroom and living room and cover it with sheets. Because of the late notice, I had to stay home and not go to work to finish putting everything away from walls. And the next day, I had to wash every thing in the kitchen to not be toxic. 4) I had a lot of trouble to get back my security deposit. It's a long story: I've moved out my rental apartment in Centurian Tower completely clean. I gave them my forwarding address. Then I asked if that's possible I wanna pick up my deposit check instead of mailing it to me and the manager said "sure", so she wrote a note that tenant prefers to pick up the check and said she would call me when the check is ready. After a month that I didn't hear back from the manager, I called​ her. She got back to me after 2 days and said "head office legally needs to mail check to your last known address ! And since you haven't provided your forwarding address they have mailed it to your Centurian tower (moved out apartment) address." And I ask but why???!!! You know I have moved out of that apartment!!!  And she answers "they legally should mail it to last known address !!! Now, we should wait until the check returns to the head office." When I asked her again that your agent knew we were not at that address any more so why she sent the check there?! She answered that " it happens since LAIDLEY manages so many properties." And after waiting another day, she texted that the check was cashed ! I asked to call her but she said sorry I'm too busy now and cannot talk. I called their main office and they said that they haven't done anything wrong legally !!! I said if I couldn't pick up the check why your manager gave me wrong information? And they say "no that's ok and she wrote a note that you want to pick up and you cannot blame her". Then I said so why did you send it to that moved out address when you saw the note? The agent said because I didn't see the note ! And I didn't see any forwarding address and everything we did was legally ! I called them again and said that actually I have provided my forwarding address on move out inspection form and they said "but we just look at the front page of your folder not all the documents and on the front page there was no forwarding address just a note about picking up the check that we haven't seen that."  After arguments, they said that "we should wait to get the statement from bank to see who has deposited the check and we will not issue another check for you because we did what we legally needed to do. We will give you the bank branch that check was cashed and you can follow up the issue with the bank and we will not argue with you any more." !!!! The agent didn't say sorry even once ! She insisted that she did everything right legally. The apartment manager called me later and apologized for what has happened and said let's wait till after the weekend to see who has cashed the check and I told her if you do not return me my security deposit money I will act legally and go to court. After 4 days the manager called me to pick up my check. When I wanted to get the check she said she needs my spouse to sign as well. I asked my spouse to come. Then she asked me and my spouse to write down and sign that we have not cashed the previous check and on another paper both of us sign that we have received the new check.

This is a nice-looking, clean, well-maintained and recently renovated building and the resident manager is nice and easy to deal with.

I'm not sure what's with the negative reviews but this place is well managed and the manager is very nice and easy to deal with. Don't trash the place and expect to get your full damage deposit back. Also can't help that people dump stuff here and there by the dumpster in the back. Not something I would blame on the building or management.

I lived in this building for 7 years. I loved it. The location is close to lots of amenities (restaurants, bars, grocery store), it's right next to a bunch of bus routes, and it's a 5 minute walk from the LRT. The bedrooms were huge and the suite had lots of square footage. Oliver is a great area.
