Not such a great place... food was poor. The egusi soup and jollof rice i bought was nothing to write home about. The cook was even a turn off for me. I dont recommend this place for anyone or any Nigerian who wants to have a feel of Nigerian meals.

If you're looking for delicious West African (Nigerian / Congolese), you won't find a better place than Cassava in/around downtown Toronto. I can honestly tell you that the food here is delicious and if you don't know what to get (like me), ask the super friendly staff.

5 stars alone for the grilled whole catfish! It was so delicious and perfectly cooked The jollof rice was just okay (I wouldn't order this again) and the accompanying cassava salsa was definitely an acquired taste The service was very kind, attentive and professional I want to come back for the grilled mackerel

Thursday, July 15, 2021β€”I'm not the type to write reviews but I thought this would be worth mentioning. My boyfriend and I are from the GTA and had planned a day in Toronto. We went out of our way to plan our day around this business' opening time (3 pm) and didn't eat anything all day to leave room for the variety of African food we planned to order (I was so excited that I literally couldn't stop thinking about it all week). We waited for close to an hour in the area before 3 pm to come and find out that no one was there when it was supposed to open (the door was locked and the room was dark). We called at 3:07 pmβ€”no one answered but we still waited a bit. Eventually we left but called again at 5:05 pm to which once again, no one answered. I suggest that if you are planning to come here, call to make sure someone is there. I really wanted to support this small business but I doubt I will be making the effort to come here again. To respect the time of future customers, please update the hours online, make a post on social media, or leave a note at the doorβ€”otherwise, it will be very hard to survive.

The food is great but there’s a guy who works there that is really stopping me from going. I’ve never been one to say this but please hire African people to serve African food. This brown guy doesn’t care about the food, has burnt it, and has ignored customers so he can talk on the phone. He’ll also just microwave the food instead of actually cooking anything. I love this place but he’s ruining it for me

The food was amazing. I had the fumbwa with fufu and my friend had egusi and fufu. Both were delicious and the fufu was divine. One thing off was that the menu didn’t list that egusi has fish/seafood and I would recommend they list all potential allergies on the menu. Luckily, my friend doesn’t have a fish/seafood allergy and it was only a preference. Anyone with allergies should definitely ask the server just in case but I highly recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant could be sued for what happened to us, Me and my boyfriend revisited this place on Thursday, October 28, We found a big hair in eforiro. The old lady taking the order didn’t speak English we really struggled a lot to make the order, We had to speak to someone over the phone to translate and the person over the phone kept saying she’s running late and she’s on her way but she never showed up we were there for almost 2/3 hours waiting for our order and finally when the food was there after after an HOUR of wait, the eforiro came with no meat she took it back again and fixed it then we got our food again and by the time we were finishing I saw little hair in egusi and it was white, I didn’t think too much then when my bf showed me a big hair in his soup we had to leave immediately! This is unacceptable! People can get sick!! Also when we got glasses for our water the glass looked like it hasn’t been washed in over years the bottom was dusty and dirty, You can never tell me a restaurant is supposed to serve food like that- unwashed glasses, hairs in food, taking more than an hour to serve food, language problem etc

We had an incredible takeout meal tonight from Cassava Cuisine. The grilled tilapia was so delicious; I loved the marinate they put inside the fish. The rice was flavourful, especially with the salsa. The Fumbwa was had a complex flavour which we enjoyed very much. Glad we found this hidden gem!
