Have wanted to try out this restaurant for YEARS! We've had friends who have worked there, so we were super excited. My fiance and I both work in the industry so we had high expectations for such a big name restaurant. We attended for the Valentine's menu, but unfortunately left disappointed. For the price point (knowing it would be high) we left feeling some what cheated. Walking in we were greeted by very friendly staff, our server George was also very attentive and friendly. So A+ for service. There was no wine pairings menu offered which sucked, but our drinks were good. I got the canoe reisling and a blood orange cocktail which I really enjoyed and my fiance got 2 glasses of red wine (cannot remember the names). The food was good, I don't want to say it was bad at all. They were accommodating to my nut allergy except at the very last course the gentleman who brought the dessert put the macaron containing almonds in front of me. All good though before I ate it we switched. I got the halibut and my fiance got the filet. They were decent, but nothing to rave about. It just felt like the menu lacked a but in creativity. We would like to try this restaurant again but the Al la carte menu.

Canoe was an absolutely amazing experience! Perfect for that special occasion or if you're just feeling fancy and want dinner with a gorgeous view. The flavours in their dishes have quite a bit of character and depth. We ordered a variety of appetizers, including the bread + butter, Wagyu + swordfish, scallop en croûte, and heirloom tomato, all of which were delicious and beautifully and creatively plated. Our favourite was definitely the Wagyu + swordfish, reminiscent of ceviche but with a kick of umami flavour and tenderness from the Wagyu. For our mains, we ordered the surf + turf, which was seasoned and cooked to perfection, on top of being quite aesthetically pleasing. The half lobster and 35-day aged steak were accompanied by an intriguing potato-based side and a rich and earthy carrot purée coloured with squid ink, drizzled with a flavourful jus. To end the night, we got the screeched tarte au sucre for dessert—at the recommendation of our server—and it was oh so soft and creamy, contrasted by its slightly brûléed top. This was complemented by a fairly extensive wine list and an assortment of cocktails. I'm not much of a wine drinker (sorry!) but the rest of the table reports that the Languedoc was fantastic. On top of the amazing food, drinks, views, and ambience, the service was absolutely amazing! A special shout-out to our server—a tall and bubbly fellow I want to say is named Stephen—who was very attentive, checked in with us at good and appropriate times, made great recommendations all throughout our meal, and had a banter and rapport with us that entertained, meshed well, and very much suited the table's joyous mood. Quite the gem, that one! Overall, definitely a beautiful and amazing restaurant to try. It's well-worth its price tag!

The view was stunning and the food delicious. We ordered the winter salad and swordfish+veal as appetizers; and the halibut (it was a tad bit overcook but still delicious) and the duck for mains. The service was very quick and our server was lovely.

Very good. Amazing service, great selection of quality meat and poultry. Canadian spin on different types of food. Overall the food was good, but the view. The view was amazing and I’m unsure of a better place to get such a good look at the cn tower than at Canoe

Came in December for lunch, server was nice and attentive. Food was really good! Standout was the honey parfait. Drinks were good but wasn’t wowed by anything specifically. Excited to come back to try the prix fixe!

I really wanted to give Canoe a higher rating as I was so excited for it, but it just didn't meet the mark for me. For the $165 tasting menu with the wine pairing included with it, the food did not wow me that much. The most unique dish for me was probably the semi sweet dessert with the Jerusalem artichokes, which was a small bite. The other dishes were good, but not amazing where I would remember them in the future. The service was also off for me. It may have been that it could've been the first weekend with full capacity, but it took 4 hours to do the tasting menu, with lots of gaps in between dishes (the last 3 dishes were dessert). And the timing of the wine with the meals after the first two courses were a bit off. Again, it could be the kitchen getting back to the groove of things. Lastly, one of my friends had a slight food irritation, which we notified them of. The server at the beginning walked through options and they came up with what would work. One of the courses, she said she'd be able to eat the specific dish, but when it came to that course the chef provided something else. And when they tried to clear it up, she was given the alternative again and the delivery was very harsh in the sense that she was told something to the effect that the chef said you have to eat this. I understand that maybe there was something in there that she maybe didn't know which wouldn't work, but the delivery of it and how she was told that she had to eat that dish did not come off well. Overall, I would suggest coming for the view, drinks, and appetizers/dessert or maybe the a la carte menu, but maybe hold off on the tasting menu.

The big asset of this place is obviously the view. If you can get a table near the windows, it’s beautiful. The service started a bit slow but ramped up and after ordering, the food arrived promptly. The staff were great, extremely friendly and took the time to explain the dishes. As for the food: the appetizers were surprisingly good. For mains, my fish was slightly overcooked, but everything else was decent. For a place that can coast off of its views, not bad at all.

I took my girlfriend here for our anniversary last year and it was such an amazing experience. While it is definitely not easy on the wallet, it was so much fun and each dish was so interesting. The view is also of course incredible. We were afraid that we would get two full and not be able to finish the preset courses, but they were very well spaced out and we were comfortably full by the end of the meal. My favorite course was definitely the scallop which was absolutely delicious. But the oyster was also amazing. My girlfriend enjoyed the desserts the most, especially the tarragon ice cream which was fascinating. The honey crumble farm cake was also really good. Surprisingly so. The biggest downside was probably the bread, I didn’t think it was up to par with the rest of everything else. Need to be a little bit chillier and more sourdough, but perhaps that’s just my own taste. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone (who is willing to pay a good amount) looking for an upscale, fun, exciting dining experience.
