I’ve lived in Toronto since 2014 and a fan of Chef Mark McEwan for even longer. I finally got to satisfy my curiosity and I tried Bymark. My expectations were high. The Raspberry Point oysters were amazing and delicious. Then it came to the main, I ordered steak with beets as my dining partner ordered the fries and brussel sprouts with her Burrata salad. The beets were bitter and I couldn’t eat them. But our server was awesome and took them back and gave us another order of fries. The fries were some of the best fries we both have ever had. The steak was unfortunately a little tough, I’ve had better. The chocolate bar dessert was melt in your mouth and memorable. Overall I’m glad I finally got to try it. I would go back for the oysters and fries in a heartbeat.

I would have given this a 5 star review but 2 things about my experience lowered the overall rating. But first, let me vehemently say that the food is delicious. Everything is full flavoured, well balanced (not too salty or sweet or spicy), the textures are amazing and the portion size is great. But for $230 (after tax and tip) for 2 people ordering 1 appetizer, a bottle of water, 2 mains, 2 desserts, 2 6oz glasses of wine and 2 coffees....I expected an elevated experience to match the quality of the food. The 1st improvement was the temperature of my main dish. I had the herbed gnocchi with duck confit and chanterelle mushrooms. My husband had the grilled orata which arrived at our table hot. It was delicious. My gnocchi was room temperature, which was disappointing. The sauce on my dish even had a skin on the top, which is further evidence that my dish sat waiting for the fish. Don't get me wrong, everything was delicious and once I mixed the sauce, the skin disappeared but the dish would have been a 10/10 if it were hot and timed better with the fish. At room temp, the gnocchi is a 7/10. The 2nd disappointment was the timing of our cappuccinos with dessert. We wanted to enjoy coffee with dessert, but our 2 desserts came out 10 min after our coffee so our coffee was tepid by the time the dessert came. I would have liked the 2 to come out together or at least closer together to be enjoyed simultaneously. And the desserts we had did not require heating (the Bymark chocolate bar and the pumpkin layer cake with apple spiced ice cream.). Another small improvement also would have been the inclusion of 2 toasted ciabattas with the burrata appetizer. It was a shared app but only 1 piece of bread came out, it would have been great if both of us could have a full piece of bread with the cheese. Aside from these things, everything was DELICIOUS. The dessert was light (even the chocolate bar) and not cloyingly sweet, which was a great way to end the meal with something light and sweet. And the service is very good, they clear the plates quickly, and don't overwhelm you. Water is refilled quickly and its the perfect level of attentiveness. Oh and the shrimp tacos were on the house!! Which was a pleasant surprise, especially since this was our anniversary dinner celebration. The shrimp tacos were like a shrimp mousse with chunks of shrimp and then topped with something very citrusy, which was delicious because it rounded out the flavour profile very nicely. Perhaps, I'm being too picky about the temperature and timing because the restaurant was full (I'd estimate 95% capacity for a Thurs evening) so I'm sure timing everything is a challenge. Bottom line, I would come back here again for the awesome food and service.

The ambience and the presentation of the food was great! The octopus and calamari was grilled to perfection, and the swordfish was incredibly delicious. The halibut was cooked well but lacked flavor, and pairing it with the watery miso broth diluted the flavor even more. The creme brulee donuts were good although would have liked more creme for sure! Our server wasn’t super friendly and the requests we made to the restaurant when we reserved the table (birthday and dietary restrictions) were not acknowledged.

Went here for diner a few nights ago and it was amazing. I started with the octopus which was grilled and seasoned perfectly. Others had the wagyu dumplings and the Korean fired chicken lettuce wraps which were also excellent. For mains the pork belly and scallops(best scallops I've ever had). We also had the east coast lobster pasta and the home made rigatoni which were amazing also ! All together it was a fantastic great experience with a nice atmosphere and view and top notch food.

To think we almost didn’t come to this restaurant because we had a hard time finding it! Very glad we went. The Straight Outta Malibu is the perfect cocktail for those who love a yum, sweet kick! Both meats were cooked to perfection as requested. Very juicy and flavourful! The duck dish was also presented so beautifully! Last shoutout goes to the Brussels! It looked a bit small at first but it was perfect. Great refreshing choice.

Recently hosted a dinner in the private dining rooms at Bymark. All of our guests raved about the spectacular food! The service was impeccable! And assistance from Abby with planning this last-minute reception was a life-saver. (Complementary parking is also a much appreciated perk.)

We came here for lunch and the food was absolutely delicious. Every little detail on the plate complemented each dish perfectly and everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Service was very good and the waiter had the perfect amount of attentiveness. We dined inside and the ambiance was very nice. Definitely what you would expect of fine dining in downtown Toronto.

Came here for a birthday dinner & wow. Everything we ordered just exceeded our expectations. I order the steak tartare everywhere I go so I can compare and this place is the winner in my books, I would come back and just order like 6 plates of it. My favourite dish was the swordfish, best fish I’ve ever had. All the flavours on each dish compliment each other so well, makes me want to go to culinary school so I can eat like this everyday!! Ambience is also awesome, noticed a ton of people just networking with others while enjoying dinner.
