The Canmore Cave Tours team are thrilled to share an exciting new project with you. As of April 2019, in partnership with the Alberta Speleological Society, we have embarked upon the resurvey of Rat’s Nest Cave; a project that we hope will shed new light on a fascinating and important part of Alberta’s history. As one of the longest caves in Canada it still has potential for significant new exploration and research contributions in the realms of geology, biology, anthropology, ecology, and more. Resurveying the cave is the first step in what we hope will be a long journey of new discovery and we invite you to join us for that journey!

We just returned from our awesome adventure. Tiffany was knowledgeable and fun. Her calm demeanour talked anyone through their fears. The whole atmosphere was fun and exciting. We did the adventure tour and loved every moment. Tiffany knew exactly where we need to pause on the hike up to catch a breath (very much appreciated). I would highly recommend this tour, you won’t be disappointed The photo is after the experience and we are all still smiling!!!

We participated in the explorers tour and it was well worth it. The caves are beautiful and not to difficult to navigate. Some of the tightest spots were tricky for the taller folk like myself but managed to make it through everything alright. Our guide Tiffany was excellent. I am a geologist and generally I find tour guides provide very rudimentary descriptions of how these types of landscapes form. Tiffany’s knowledge was so impressive I was convinced she was a geologist herself. She easily went into in depth discussions with me about the mineralogy and structures we were seeing on the climb. All around an amazing adventure and highly recommended!

Took part in the 6 hour tour with rapelling. A very unique experience that pushes a little bit past your comfort zone, but still really enjoyable. All required equipment is included, just bring sturdy footwear and snacks that can fit in your pocket. Water bottles must stay outside the cave. Our guide, Max, was extremely personable. He is bursting with positivity, and full of fun cave facts. His passion for caving is infectious. Thank you so much, this was the highlight of our trip to the Rockies.?

Having a love for hiking and nature, I booked this tour because I wanted to explore the Rockies from a different perspective. My husband, my father and I went on the 6-hour Adventure Tour. From start to finish, the booking process, customer service, and the actual tour were exceptional. We have been on cave tours before, but never a CAVING tour. This was truly a unique experience and involved much more than simply walking through a beautiful cave. We were glad we booked the longer (Adventure) tour. We also appreciated the small group sizes, which allowed a personalized experience. The rappel and squeezes were intimidating at first, but our group soon became quite comfortable with trying the different maneuvers. Our guide Brent was patient, knowledgeable, and supremely competent. His enthusiasm for cave exploration and preservation was evident, and we learned so much from him! Provided you have a semi-moderate fitness level and you are open to trying a new challenge, I recommend this activity! Definitely wear good footwear. Also, if you book the 6-hour Adventure Tour, I wouldn't plan other major excursions on the same day. You will be ready for a well-deserved meal and a relaxing patio/fireside after :).

Amazing experience. The hike to the cave, the views on the way, the preparation to go in, and the cave! The chambers, the water pond, the bones, the slide, the climb in and down, and the explanations from our guide. The guide John was very attentive, patient and knowledgeable. 100% recommended.

This was an amazing experience from start to finish, everyone we spoke with was amazingly friendly. The hike up was beautiful but the caves themselves were so much better than I expected. I thought we would just be walking along the caves but there was a ton of climbing and exploring to do while we were down there. Max, our guide was awesome the whole time too.

I had some knowledge of caving going into this tour, but the experience was still far up and above my expectations! Our guide, Max, is so knowledgeable and passionate about caving, geology, and outdoor adventuring and he made us feel so at ease while we were squeezing through impossibly narrow crevices. We loved the whole experience and are now definitely interested in doing more caving in the future. The approach to the cave entrance is a fairly short hike (30-45min depending on your fitness level) with some beautiful views. It was however quite icy even during the first week of March; the company does provide crampons but it's best to bring your own if you have small feet.

Much more adventurous than expected. But great fun. 30 min hike through beautiful scenery to get to the cave. Then a few hours underground, much of it on our butts and hands and knees. Fun and confident guide - very knowledgeable. Must do for anyone after an adventure
