I traveled 7 hours to attempt to stay in Canada for three weeks while I am out of work. Isolation poses a huge safety issue for me because of health issues. The nearest safest place for me to go would be to stay with my partner in Canada. Upon arriving at the border a couple days before the travel ban between the US and Canada took effect, I met a very kind agent who was about to let me through. The border agent behind him overtook the conversation and responded to my concern with “Are you serious? You are the reason people are getting sick. You are the reason the virus is spreading” I understand his concerns. Though these are valid concerns the way he expressed them was arrogant and rude. I’ve had no symptoms and have been in isolation for days. He bullied his colleague out of the conversation. After giving me multiple lectures and fear mongering, he left the decision to his boss when his efforts to manipulate me were ineffective. If it was an easy decision to go home I would have. I wouldn’t have traveled 7 hours when there is a global pandemic. The boss said no in a private conversation to which was translated by the arrogant officer to his colleague. Suddenly a form was being filled out with no explanation what was happening as if they wanted me to be left in the dark. I asked what was happening and the nice one explained. They left the decision up to immigration. I had a letter from my doctor explaining it was a risk for me to be alone and immigration said the letter offended them. That “I don’t respect a doctor that says here you take care of it it’s not my problem” how could you interpret a letter of a person in need of safety so wrongly? It became apparent to me I am dealing with people drunk on their own power and desperate to deny American citizens no matter the means. There is no official definition of essential travel and they are abusing their authority when defining it. I was told later that day a woman was denied entry when trying to pick her daughter up from school and they have been denying people left, right, and center. They told me it is safer in my own country despite a very clear note from my doctor it is not, and they denied me because I would be a tax to their healthcare system. If this was true why did they not allow that woman to pick up her daughter? Wouldn’t it be better to have as many people out of the country as possible? They are just grasping at straws to deny anyone entry. They asked me questions about how much money I had in my bank account, do I have 10,000 dollars for treatment, and can I afford to get sick. Disgusting. They said I don’t need to come, I want to come over. Yes, I want to feel safe. Thats a basic human right. They had no valid reason to deny me entry given my situation and they bullied me into signing a paper that said I revoke my request to enter the country. I signed because I was done with their abuse. I was there before the sun came up to after sunrise. There was one decent human in that office and he was overshadowed by egotistical maniacs. I will be back when they have no means to refuse me and have a wonderful time in Canada.

Can’t complain. Got asked a lot of weird questions but that’s fine. The agent was professional and we went through quickly. I hope to always have an easy experience getting into Canada. We enjoyed our trip a lot.

My politeness was met with incredible rudeness. It’s very sad that these people seem trained to assume the worst in Americans.

Came to this border crossing and was turned around due to us forgetting our covid tests, which is understandable. When asked if they administered test, they said no and we were turned around. However, we returned a week later with the correct documents and happened to see one of the agents handing someone else a covid-19 test kit and explaining to them why the test needed to be administered. Questionable since we were told that they do not give kits or tests. When I asked again the second time around, the white border patrol agent lied once more claiming that the test was for something different and not covid. My partner and I heard clearly that the test was for covid-19 so it’s disappointing to see them lie once more. Just so you know, we are a Black couple. And the border patrol is all white. I believe this was a case of discrimination and I would like to advise all Black people that you may be treated differently from everyone else. Have all of your things together, of course. There’s no kindness extended to you. Racism is still real and alive, no matter how small you think the transgression may be.

An immigration officer had an attitude with me when I was being nothing but cordial with him. The other officers were nice though.

Crossed the border to just take a picture of Quebec sign in my weekend trip to Burlington VT. I know that the officers are doing their job keeping everyone safe, but they cannot comprehend why a single travel want to just cross the border and picture it for memories. Four Border Agents interrogate me for about 30 minutes, searched my car, belongings and sent me inside for more question. After that, all good, drove 3 minutes to the Quebec sign and make a u turn, reentering back home. Home Sweet Home USA-

My main border crossing to see family. I’ve been through here for the last 20+ years. Wish high traffic travel dates were faster to get through but overall very thorough and efficient.

I cross this border many times to visit my GF in Montreal from Vermont. No complaints about the staff (both Canadian and American agents have been great) but I will state that crossing into Canada is very time consuming. When entering back into the USA, even when there is a line, the line moves 10x's faster. I'm not exactly sure why it takes so much longer to enter Canada, especially now that you don't need a test to cross (just vaccinated) but I can't help but wonder if there is a more effective method for Canada to use so that lines aren't always so backed up entering. I recommend trying to cross into Canada at weird hours to avoid 20-1.5 hour waits.
