About Calgary Food Bank

During this time, the Food Bank also began to partner with manufacturers, transportation companies and distributors to redirect usable but unwanted food. Food shipments that may be turned down by retailers for many reasons such as outdated packaging; unsold product due to consumer shortfalls; as well as items past their best-before dates. This food was usable, fit for consumption and allowed us to fill pantries, not landfills, from the very beginning.

Since the early days, partnerships were established with trucking companies and distribution centres to divert refused trailers of food from the landfill to the Food Bank. Then in 2007, the Calgary Food Bank formed a Food Industry Advisory Committee, consisting of industry senior management and owners. An infrastructure was created to redirect products that cannot be sold due to short date, damage, refusal, overstock, packaging issues, end of run or seasonal issues, at the same time maintaining a safe supply of nutritious food for clients and charities. By 2013, 82% of the food collected came from the food industry partnerships.

d	dueck herb on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ went for an appointment today and the tall native guy Wes with long black hair was extremely rude normally he handles the vehicles but today he was yelling at my family and daughter, ''you get what we have!!!'' when all we were trying to do is ask what kind of meat they had, he kept yelling over the volunteer that was trying to help, did not treat clients with dignity, he seriously needs to get off his garbage role and stay away from the vehicles if that's how he's going to treat people and talk to people and this is not the first time he's been rude to us

The good thing, we have a chance to try some of product we haven't had before . And ends up liking them and sometimes buying it at grocery store. A million thanks to calgary food bank, all the donors, admin and volunteers who works together to serve and helped us in our food insecurity. More power and God bless us.

I always appreciate all the charitable donations from the good people of Calgary and it's very giving volunteers, without them, this place would not exist. 10 stars ?!

I am a proud hard working person that is usually the giver but unfortunately fell on hard times and was scared to reach out, it came time I had no choice. They made the process easy, I felt so blessed to be able to fill my shelves and fridge. Thank you soon much to everyone that gives of their time and of course thank you to those that donate.
k	krîstøphêr çoço on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As much as complaining about free food seems stupid I went today to collect a hamper by hand, more than half of it was rotten vegetables. not just slightly past the best before I'm talking dripping pink and brown garbage smelling fluid. The rest of everything that I got was chocolate syrup cake mix cookie mix candy just a whole bunch of junk food. Maybe one actual meal... When I was there the staff seemed very helpful and very nice. I do really appreciate the help in such a rough time for me but I imagined I would at least get a couple meals out of a hamper.... Everyone else I seen was getting loaded full of a bunch of good stuff from what i saw, but of course that goes to the people with vehicles... (couple pics of what i received posted) what the heck am I going to do with a massive bag of marshmallows and two bottles of chocolate syrup cake mix and cookies... I need sustenance... Actual food....
