Easy walk that you can do with kids. My suggestion, as with any trail, is make sure you are absolutely covered with bug spray. So much bug spray that you would understand being seen as a bug spray advertisement.

Nice hike! We did the short loop and saw many (more than a dozen) sufferer wildflowers growing in the boreal forest

I hiked the Brule Trail on the morning of July 11, 2020. This is always a favourite trail of mine in the park and it is a tradition for me to hike there during every visit. The 4.5 km trail is a loop that follows through forest and leads to Kinosao Lake. The trail has some gentle ups and downs, but is mostly flat and easy terrain. There are also some protruding tree roots to watch out for. Right before reaching the lake, you cross a boardwalk over a marshy area beside the lake which makes for some beautiful photos! Kinosao Lake is such a peaceful and gorgeous lake. The water is so calm in the mornings. There is a dock and a canoe stashed under a tree with life jackets and paddles, that is available for anyone to take out. The reflections on the lake in the morning make for really nice photos and it's a wonderful spot to relax and admire the beautiful surroundings. The trail then follows back through forest and some open grassy areas to arrive back at the parking lot. WARNING - The mosquitoes were relentless and vicious during my visit! There were swarms of them following me at all times and if I stopped moving, they attacked. This definitely made the hike less enjoyable. There were also some muddy and wet sections to navigate which wasn't too difficult. Overall, the hike was pretty and I love the lake destination. I plan to return in the fall for a more enjoyable experience without the bugs though.

A very easy trail to walk. You can take your time, and a good place to start little ones.

Easy trail with a short or long loop. Connects with the Kinasao trail, so venture on further to see the lake!

Nice little trail took us just over an hour and a half after stopping to enjoy the view off the dock midway. Pretty certain we returned on brule trail (you can take other trails from the midway point back) aswell but the trek back had alot of exposed roots and would be mor challenging for someone that had poor balance or a difficult time lifting their feet.

We were looking for the Kinasao Trail but Brule was very satisfying and much more delicious in name. We visited Riding Mountain National Park in January so the majority of the trails were closed but the relatively empty, very snowy park is still worth a visit if only to appreciate the breathtaking escarpment. The view took me back to the Champlain Lookout in the Gatineau Hills. The size and power of the ice that made these unique landscapes are mind-blowing. Bring your cross-country skis if you come here in winter

Nice short trail in Riding Mountain National Park- easy to find near the start of Hwy 19 - just north of Wasagaming. You can choose to do a long or short loop using snowshoes or just winter boots. I am not sure why it is marked that you should walk in a certain direction - we saw tracks through the snow in both directions - which made sense to us. There are 2 other trailheads at the same starting point - Kinosao and Grey Owl's cabin. Grey Owl's trail is for cross country skiing only. Kinosao is multiuse - same as the Brule trail. We had a nice time on this trail - no wildlife spottings that day though. The terrain is up and down at times - sturdy winter boots or snowshoes are needed if you visit in Winter. Would be a good place to hike in summer or winter if you are looking for a short hike.
