About Both Hands Wood-Fired Pizzeria & Bakery

It all began in 1999 during a long, cold winter in  Northern  Manitoba. Derek Lucchese started experimenting with baking bread and  realized that he was dedicated to making natural whole grain, sourdough  bread. After moving to the countryside near Thunder Bay, Ontario, Derek  continued to refine his baking skills. He took an oven building class  from the legendary Alan Scott at the North House Folk School in Grand  Marais, Minnesota; built a commercial oven and began Both Hands Bread.  For ten years, Derek sold his signature bread at the Thunder Bay Country  Market, eventually building a portable wood-fired pizza oven and adding  pizzas to his offerings. As an advocate of the baking process and a  promoter of great food, Derek began building ovens for others and  teaching baking and oven building workshops.  In 2014, Both Hands moved to its permanent location on the corner of Park and Algoma.

Fast service. Friendly staff. I love the thunder oak curds in their cheese toppings. Lots of great choices for toppings. Got uber fast pizza for lunch on a walkin. Go here asap. Do not hesitate going here for a good feed. Their hours kinda suck for ppl that do t work 925 and do overtime on long weekends, but I am really just splitting hairs in this point. I love this place. Local too+!!!

Nice little place to chill, amazing pizza and very good service. Both hands special 20% off if you're not using your phone while dinning, on Wednesday's. Highly recommend.

Tasty pizza and delicious fresh bread to purchase. We created our own pizzas using the toppings available, which is great if you are vegetarian or have other dietary requirements.

They do pizzas really really well! I wish they had more options besides pizza (such as salad), but the ingredients are top notch and very tasty. The think crust is really lovely. Only giving 4 stars because they burnt the crust on our pizza more than is normal, but the topping combo of goat cheese with prosciutto and roasted red peppers was fabulous so I ate around the burnt parts. Seating is limited so that is worth considering.

I can actually say this is the best pizza in town, having tried all (or very close to all) pizza joints in town. Their crust is just ..mouah! They are serious about their toppings, too. Very creative, yet succulent pizzas are on their menu, as well.

Amazing pizza with delicious crust. The friendliness and customer service were outstanding. What an amazing find. We went for pizza, we left with an extra pizza as 'leftover' as well as delicious blueberry-cheesecake icecream and a fresh loaf of bread. If the owner reads this: you have a fantastic crew working there. Unfortunately, we are moving to the Yukon so the likelihood of coming back is slim. BΓΉt, never say never! Highly recommended when you are in or near Thunder Bay.

Pizza was one of the best Ive had in a while. Crust was chewy and crisp and tasty cheese. Quality toppings. Well cooked. I felt it was well priced for the 11 inch pizza. Will be going back before i leave Thunder Bay.

Oh...WOW!! This pizza was fantastic! First time visiting the area and so thrilled to have found this little pizzeria. One of the top pizzas I have ever had. Staff were very friendly and our pizza came out pretty quick. I wish I had been able to try their bread too. Located in an old house, the dining area has tons of character; it's small though so no large groups. If you are visiting Thunder Bay and you want pizza, you HAVE to come here. Watch their hours - open Wed-Sat only.
