BMV Books

My favourite place to go used book shopping! It’s such a big place with so many books to choose from. I even found some more obscure poetry books here. Out of my 3 trips so far, I’ve bought about 10 books I absolutely love.

This place is like...the best place in Toronto to buy and sell books, hands down. Awesome location, cool space, great staff, and excellent selection of books (and other stuff I usually don't touch, but like Vinyls, DVDs, some games). Definitely check them out if you haven't!

Discount books, DVDs, CDs and similar media in this Bloor Street staple. Multi-floor bonanza, easily laid out, splattered with novelty items.

Amazing bookstore. Minus 1 star because their new hours make it nearly impossible for me to go there anymore. Please consider expanding your hours back to regular service. Going to BMV on a whim in the evening always resulted in me purchasing more books!

Great bookstore. Unfortunately doesn't care at all about the safety of their customers. Alllwed a lady in with a DOBERMAN PINCER without a muzzle. Was barking and jumping at people the entire time. Staff did not ask her to leave. This is CRAZY. Get your act together BMV. Cant imagine the lawsuit you'd have on your hands if a child were bit. Irresponsible!!!!

Went here for the first time today. I didn't have much time to browse but I made some cool discoveries and it looks like they have some good deals. Occasionally I got confused when I got to the end of a certain section without seeing authors' names all the way to the end of the alphabet, but maybe that was all they had. My main reason for going was to sell a book I didn't want anymore. It was in practically perfect condition and was recent fiction, which the website said they paid the most for. I took it to the buying desk. The person there looked it over, flipping through the pages, and said he would give me $3 for it. I accepted, since I have been trying to sell or give away the book online for over a year and hadn't had any luck. It was a book someone else gave me, so I never spent any money on it. so I guess I still made money on it. Maybe I should have tried to haggle, but I don't know if they do that here. All the same, I would have liked some transparency or explanation for why they only would pay $3, since I'm sure they'd sell the book for a fair bit more. If that's what they pay for books in good condition, what do they pay for more imperfect ones? 50 cents? I probably should have asked for some explanation, but I just wanted to finish the transaction and I'm not familiar with this kind of thing. I get that they probably don't want to advertise specific prices on their website to keep things competitive without being unreasonable, but I still would have liked to have an idea of what to expect. Overall, it's worth it if you just want to get a book off your hands in exchange for a bit of extra pocket change, but don't expect any more than that for just one book.

This place is awesome! Loads of books, but my fave part was the music section downstairs. So many records and CDs for really cheap. I bought everything John Mayer :)
