Bloor Street Fitness & Boxing 24-7

I have been trying for almost 2 weeks to reach someone at the office to discuss my account. I had put a freeze on it months ago, before the pandemic closure, as I wasn't comfortable being in a gym when cases were peaking. There was absolutely ZERO communication from the gym management for over 8 months. No information sent out about reopening plans or memberships, despite having dates posted to their website well in advance. They set to reopen on August 6th, but waited until only 2 weeks before to notify via email. Their notice contained absolutely no information for clients about their current membership, account freezes, or the credits we had been promised when the gym originally closed partway through a payment period. They have also increased membership prices and, while I understand it might be necessary to recoup costs incurred during the pandemic, nothing was sent to notify of the increase. I have emailed and left voicemails multiple times before and after reopening to discuss my account, the credit that should be available, and change payment methods, and NOT ONCE have I received a response. BUT they have tried to charge my card since I tried to reach out, and of course I have incurred a non-payment charge because the original card no longer exists. They can't respond to an email or a voicemail, but they sure can set up automatic text messages to inform me that I now owe them even more money. This is highly unprofessional.

Bloor Street Fitness is the best gym I have ever been a member of. The staff is very friendly and encouraging no matter what your fitness level is. I also find the trainers are willing to help you if you’re unsure of how to do something or have a question about anything fitness related. I was worried about hurting myself with my form once and Ian really helped me make sure I was doing things properly to avoid hurting myself. They seem to take safety very seriously and want to make sure everyone is okay and having a good experience. I recently hurt my knee working out and they were very helpful and made sure I was okay which I greatly appreciated. The gym also has a lot of different equipment, as well as one of the few gyms I have seen with a trap bar and many benches so you’re often not waiting for one to open up. I really like the atmosphere of this gym and I don’t feel inferior when I am here. They really try to promote an atmosphere of inclusion and positivity. As a trans identifying person, I feel safe here ( I left my previous gym due to safety issues) and I feel the staff would have my back if anything were to come up (which it hasn’t). The monthly rate is also very fair and I appreciate the 24 hour availability. I am really happy it is so close to me and I hope to be a member for a long time. Thanks for the great experience!

If you are not into big chain gyms, this is the place for you. Highly recommend the classes upstairs, there is a variety for every taste and the instructors are all very knowledgeable! Not to mention the friendly staff. Some areas could use extra cleaning, bit that’s the only downside. Pricing is super fair too, they charge more for private classes but that’s understandable.

I had the same experience as Elizabeth below, but it was even worse. I asked to speak to the owner, and it was simply put "the owner is not interested in speaking with anyone about this" In 2015 I signed up with the $20 membership for life deal, which was not honored and changed in October 2020 without notice and my confirmation. (more than double in price $44.07) I am a long time resident of Roncesvalles and also local business owner, I'm extremely disappointed in this experience and behavior. I will never go back to Bloor Street Fitness, and will never recommend anyone go there. Apparently the "notice" was sent in one of the emails in the attached image. I've searched for it, and can't find it.

A solid, bare-bones gym with reliable equipment. I enjoyed over eight years of membership there. Unfortunately, this experience was marred by the thirteen months it took them to cancel my membership when I no longer required it. Better customer service is all this facility needs to be one of the best in the city.

I have not been to this gym in 2 years since covid and they randomly started charging my credit card that showed up, not as Bloor st fitness as it did in the past, but as another transaction showing up as "none" making it nearly impossible to sort out who was charging me. When I called to get money back they simply told me they had absolutely and no idea or ability to fix this problem and I should report the transaction as fraud in order to get money back.

They doubled the cost of my membership after being a customer for many years. Now I would understand if the purpose is to invest on the gym in some way but instead now they expect you to bring your own water because they got rid of the water fountain and have no plans to bring one. First time I've been to a gym where there's not a water fountain to fill ur bottle. Instead they sell you the water now. Their accessories are a hazard, I had a one of the handles snap broken while working out thankfully no injury. Yet still today there are similar handles that look like it's a matter of time before they snap and they won't replace it for new ones. These things cost $25. It's hard to say if they're not purposefully trying to go out of business. Even tho im an old time customer, I just can't recommend this place anymore.
