Why you should not attend Blanche Macdonalds Esthetic/ Spa Therapy program POSTING FOR A FRIEND - I feel the same way— From the beginning of my program it was extremely disorganized. The school is poorly managed with little to no communication between the director and the instructors. Majority of the program there was little to no notice of a schedule or change. The kits we paid $2500 for lack in supplies! My suitcase is worth more than the contents contained within in. Majority was linen. We had to use products during skincare even if we had an allergic reaction, sensitive skin or EVEN grade 3-4 acne and told to just push through it. A specific altercation between one teacher and multiple students led to the director getting involved and DEFENDING the said teachers behaviour. I would like to say there were positives from Blanche very few but there were some. Angie, Cristina and Lilly were my saving grace while attending Blanche and always were checking in on us which will I will forever be grateful for. And I made some pretty amazing friendships during my program as well . I could go on and on about my experiences at the school but overall I would not recommend Blanche Macdonald. Save your time, money and sanity and go elsewhere.

I am a graduate of the Blanche Macdonald Aesthetics program at the Cambie campus and a graduate of the Hair Program at the Robson campus. I graduated with the highest marks and the highest salon worksheet. I am presently a student in the Barber course at Blanche Macdonald. I was a student of the two campuses. When I first was looking for a school to attend, I did a lot of research on the different schools in B.C. for aesthetics and hair. I am so happy with my decision to have attended a school with such high standards and professionalism. Initially, corresponding to Lise Graham and the time she spent with me and my parents made me confident that Blanche Macdonald was the school for me. I first attended the year program in aesthetics. I met some great friends and was among some of the best teachers in the Country. After graduating, I wanted to pursue the hair dressing program. I loved the program so much. To have hands on and work with teachers who are so engage and enthusiastic, makes you really want to be like them. I am continuing now into the Barbering program. I am so happy to have attended such a professional school like Blanche Macdonald where I get to learn from some of the most Talented and Professional teachers in the industry. Both schools at Cambie ( Uptown Campus) and Robson ( Atelier Campus) are beautiful, clean, and make you feel like a professional. Annie Hellman

I moved to Vancouver to study at BMC in order to pursuit my passion and dream career, being a makeup artist! At Blanche I not only learned and developed the skills to become a certified MUA, I also had the continuous push and inspiration of my instructors to keep me going when things got though. I was taught to be innovative, creative, resilient and most of all resourceful when it came to making my visions come alive for my projects. After all, things don't always go the way we imagine they will... Leah made me realize I had a stronger passion for fashion than I thought I did when I started my course. I was told to keep my mind open to anything. This not only ended up being great advice but it also helped me to continue having an open mind to new opportunities outside my comfort zone. I was provided with great tips on how to survive a backstage environment and what are must-haves in your kit in order to be an organized, professional, and efficient MUA.

I’m truly grateful to have attended Blanche Macdonald Centre. I completed their Professional Esthetics program and my time and experience there was nothing but positive. It was the perfect gateway that provided me with not only just the technical skills and knowledge but also the many great professional job opportunities available for me to take full advantage of, as I really wanted to gain that hands-on experience. As a result, I’ve experienced great successes. I’m very thankful to each and every one of their instructors and career team for sharing their valuable and extensive knowledge. I highly recommend to anyone considering enrolling in their programs. They are all so truly wonderful - each of them offering their own care and unique methodologies, mentorship, coaching, and guidances. I recently had a visit there and it was the best feeling to see Jen, Heather, and Simona again! Made me realize just how much I missed them…felt like home and family. I so appreciate and respect each of your genuine care for all your students of Blanche Macdonald! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! ❤️

I attended the Global Makeup Program last year and I cannot rave about my experience enough! I moved from out of province to attend the program and the transition was extremely smooth. I ended up finding an apartment on my own but the resources provided to me helped a lot in finding places in areas that were accessible and easy to commute to. I really enjoyed having different teachers for each module because you pick up great tips from everyone and find what works for you. I feel like I got really helpful personal feedback since the class sizes are small. I also love how the job resources are available to students forever after they graduate. I was connected to a few other graduates in my area to help find work after moving back when the program was done. The only thing I would recommend to someone who is also coming to Blanche from outside of BC is to over-budget for EVERYTHING. If I knew how much I'd be spending on extra items for school (exams, photoshoots, kit essentials, etc.), groceries, and other things like rent/internet, I would've saved much more. Special shoutout to Jill for making my transition to Blanche so easy!

Blanche Macdonald Centre is an excellent centre to get into the beauty industry. I recently graduated from Blanche Macdonald Centre from their Nail Studio Program and I'm thrilled with it. My instructor Jamie Yin, is the best instructor because she always teaches from her heart and at the same time maintaining a professionalism and make sure her students are on the same page. She is always helping everyone and she is an inspiration to her students to achieve their goals. BLANCHE macdonald is an excellent school because even after graduation I know I have community where I belong and they always will make me feel welcome. I am going back to get my Freelance makeup diploma because they inspire me to keep going, the way the instructors teaches and they always made me feel welcome and encouraged me to keep going. Simona, she us an amazing person as director and also she teaches the business class which is so eye opening class and she teaches from her heart.

I graduated from Blanche Macdonald Centre from their Aesthetics program. I was very fortunate and blessed to have Angie B as one of my instructors. She is by far the best instructor I have ever come across. She is beyond dedicated to each and every student. Her level of professionalism and passion is truly inspiring. I felt motivated and received endless support from Angie. She truly cares for everyone's success and is able to use her resources and countless years of experience to guide her students. I am confident that anyone who attends Blanche and is lucky to have Angie as a instructor is not only blessed but are in great hands! I am so happy and grateful to have had Angie through out my journey. Thank you Angie for all that you do each and everyday.

A school of excellence and high standards. I took the "Global Makeup Program" which allowed me to sample many different mediums of makeup. I enjoyed each module, definitely more knowledgeable and capable in each one thanks to the Instructors that shared their skills and wanted to see their students succeed. If you're not entirely sure what field of makeup you are interested in, I suggest this program, as it will take you through a good sampling of each. I feel prepared to go into most fields of makeup and simple hairstyles. Your year will pass quickly and before you know it, you will be working in the industry and wearing makeup confidently! Almost every instructor told me "trust the process!" I am grateful to have heard it so often as often self doubt tried to creep in. I do have suggestions for Blanche, but minor and not worth mentioning in my review as they are unique to me. One great thing is that if you do have any comments and suggestions, the Program Directors are there to hear and assist you. Thank you Blanche Macdonald for a year of challenges through these different times! I say different because too often I've heard difficult times and I feel once you label it in a negative light, that's mostly what one sees. If you are hoping to get into makeup school, I do recommend Blanche Macdonald!
