I finally have a place where I can buy Jamaican Blue Mountain, without worrying that it is some cheap knockoff. Not only that, he provides significant support to the Lansdowne Middle School music program.

The coffee is expertly roasted and divine. This is a quality local business worth supporting! We discovered Black Bear Coffee by buying the 'Black Bear Espresso' ice cream from Parachute Ice Cream and were told the roaster was just upstairs, so we decided to pay a visit. The current special is that when you buy a pint of Black Bear ice cream on Saturdays you get a free jar of Black Bear coffee. That free jar convinced us to never buy coffee from anywhere else. The owner sources everything personally, ensuring its quality and freshness. The coffee, mostly (if not all, I'm not sure) Fair Trade and Organic, is roasted in an intimate space with artisan care. The business is predominately wholesale, but they have started direct to consumer sales on Saturdays only. We couldn't be happier that we discovered this place because the quality is unparalleled and you'll never be buying coffee that is more than a few days old. The day we went in, all the choices were either roasted that morning or the day before. On top of all of this, the coffee is sold in large mason jars. We really appreciated the desire to promote reusable containers and reduce waste. Spread the positive word, this place deserves it!

Minus the bag, we were short nearly 30grams. While 30 grams doesn't sound like much, in reality it is on it's way to being 10 percent short. To top it off.......when I called in, I couldn't get a word in edge wise as the guy just kept interupting and simply had no consideration in hearing my feedback. Not a good look for a business trying to cater to the locals. Never again. Rather buy Kicking Horse Coffee any day! On top of that he started calling us after hours and after telling him not to call back and hanging up on him, he called back. Seriously? We eventually had to tell him that if he didn't stop calling we were going to call the police. Not professional by any means.
