About Birth Partnership

Birth Partnership Midwives work as a team, sharing a common philosophy of midwifery care. They support and encourage each other's individual beliefs and values.

Our midwives work in teams of “primary midwives”, to offer families personalized care, continuity and choices, while maintaining access to the entire team of midwives for back-up and support. Our relationship is one of partnership with the woman, her family and each other.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have chosen Birth Partnership as your caregivers. It is an honor and a privilege to be your midwives and we look forward to a positive birth experience with each and every one of you!

Birth Partnership Midwives would like to acknowledge their original founders and partners, Bobbie Fraser and Arlette Allyjan. Bobbie and Arlette retired after dedicating themselves to midwifery for over 30 years. Both are British trained midwives, who after immigrating to Canada, worked as obstetrical nurses on labour and delivery units. In 1991 both Bobbie and Arlette were part of the Foothills Hospital Nurse Midwifery Program that provided care to over 800 families. They subsequently were part of the first group of midwives to be registered in the province of Alberta.

I had a wonderful experience with the midwives here. I felt heard and understood and felt that my choices and decisions were heard while having professional, respectful, and personable people work with me through my pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum period. I feel immense gratitude to be able to have such a positive and supported birth experience. I am impressed with how knowledgeable the midwives were and the amount of medical procedures they can do, from taking blood to providing stitches. I highly recommend the use of a midwife, especially at this practice.

I had an amazing experience and a very positive home birth with my midwives. My team I matched with was Morning Star Rose: Taryn, Patty and Elise. They were very caring, kind, supportive and knowledgeable. I could not have dreamed of a better care than I recieved with my midwives at this location. I am very grateful. I highly recommended to everyone having a midwife during pregnancy and birth. It was the best choice we made. Thank you so much!

I could not recommend Birth Partnership enough. The care and support I received with the Morningstar Rose team throughout my first pregnancy was amazing. I felt supported throughout and having access to Maternity Neighbourhood and the ability to message my midwives any questions or concerns I had throughout my pregnancy was so helpful and reassuring. During my labour I felt very supported and had the midwife's experience & guidance to navigate my labour & delivery. I am convinced I would have had an extremely different experience during delivery without my midwife as she was able to guide my to the positions i needed to ensure my delivery progressed. I felt supported in my decision to have an unmedicated hospital delivery and was back home after delivery within 3 hours. Thank you Morningstar Rose team!

Birth Partnership has been such a wonderful experience for myself and my family for the pregnancy and delivery of all three of our children. My team was the Morning Star Rose Team (Patty, Taryn & Elise) and randomly it worked out that each of them delivered a different one of my children. The atmosphere (midwives, support staff, and clinic space) at Birth Partnership is warm, friendly, welcoming, and compassionate. And organized/well run! The midwives are exceptionally knowledgeable, caring and professional. Their prenatal care is thorough, as involved as you need, and well organized. Their labour and delivery care is fantastic! They are calm, instructive, and there with you throughout the nitty gritty moments of labour. I truly believe that I had healthy, non-traumatic birth experiences specifically because I had midwives with this high caliber of knowledge and skill. Their postpartum care was why I signed up for midwives in the first place and did not disappoint! One of my babies needed NICU post birth and the midwife who delivered him was very much a part of our medical support team after his birth and involved in the postpartum care still (even visiting us at ACH, helping me with breastfeeding and supporting us through the emotions of an unexpected health scare for our baby). My other two were healthy and thriving from the beginning so I didn't need as much of their time (but I could tell it was right there if I needed it) and it was still such a huge support to have those home visits in the first couple weeks, the knowledgeable brain that I could pick with all my new mom questions, and the cheerleader I needed when I was feeling the strain of the newborn phase. The midwives work in teams so you don't know which one will deliver your baby but they ensure that you get to know each midwife during your prenatal visits and when you are close to your date they often fill you in on who is on call and when it will switch to the next midwife. I did the centering group classes for each pregnancy and found it was such a treasured experience to be part of a group of other women all due around the same time as myself and the information sessions were invaluable. I went over my due date and got frustrated and tired of being pregnant for all my babies and each time the team helped talk me down from my anxiety/frustration and guided me through next steps and options for increasing my chances of labour. I would highly recommend this team of exceptional, skilled midwives to walk with you and your family through your pregnancy, delivery and postpartum if you have an uncomplicated, healthy pregnancy.

I had a fantastic experience with The Birth Partnership Midwives in Airdrie. It was my fourth birth, but first natural, first home birth and first time with midwives. They made me feel so cared for and respected. They always provided informed consent and always respected my decisions. They also had so much information to share about pregnancy, PP etc. Which I found so helpful and would have loved to have with my first! I loved being able to check in online and also view all my medical records. My birth was everything I hoped for and more and birth partnership played a huge role in that. Thank you for a pregnancy and birth experience I will cherish!

I had such a positive experience with my Midwifery care at this clinic. I was matched up with Susan (with SM Sadie supporting) and I'm so grateful for that! My care from prenatal, labour, delivery and postpartum felt informative and supportive. I had a healthy pregnancy and a beautiful home birth where I felt safe, strong and completely empowered! I'm incredibly thankful and would recommend Midwifery care to everyone that is able. Thank you!

Absolutely amazing experience. We are so grateful for everyone we encountered the trust we built with our team. We wish postpartum care was longer than 6 weeks we understand this is the norm. We liked the home visits especially after our birth experience it was nice not to be travelling everywhere for appointments. The clinic follow ups were fabulous as well. We are so thankful for midwifery care in our city.

Midwifery care was something I knew nothing about when I found out I was pregnant, and was luckily introduced by a friend to the practice. Birth Partnership is an amazing clinic with a warm atmosphere, super friendly staff and a wonderful team of midwives. I worked with Harmony Team 2, Chelsea and Stephanie, and soon-to-be midwife Sadie. These ladies were so comfortable to be around, and supportive of any concerns that we may have had. During my pregnancy, a family member of mine had passed, and Chelsea spent an appointment just actively listening and emotionally supporting me. I couldn't have asked for more. They helped guide me and my partner through the journey in making informed decisions about our birth, and ultimately led us to having a home birth. I know that without Birth Partnership I would not have been able to have the empowering birth story that I have today. I will share my story and help advocate for midwifery care for other women.
