★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As a parent, one of my greatest joys in life is watching my children take part in activities that they love. My wife and I tried a number of activities and extra-curricular sports for my son Erik, but there wasn't the passion in his eyes until we found the martial arts school, BigRock Aikikai. The quality of instruction, the camaraderie of the dojo, and the skill of both the sensei and his helpers is truly unique. I am not joking when I say that after EVERY class, Erik comes home and says, "Man, I love Aikido!" I'm so happy that we've found something he's so passionate about excelling at, and even more so that we found a place where that passion can be guided and grown. I would, without hesitation, recommend fully and highly BigRock Aikikai.

As an Aikido Instructor in Victoria, BC, I have gone so far as to make yearly trips to Calgary's Big Rock Aikikai in order to learn from Steve Erickson Sensei, to soak up his teaching methods and infectious enthusiasm for building confident young leaders through the martial arts.
I have never seen such a well laid out martial arts program, nor have I ever met a more dedicated Aikido instructor than Erickson Sensei, especially when it comes to encouraging young people to be all they can be. It's truly a precious thing to behold.
As a parent with 3 kids of my own who have also trained in Aikido with me over the years, I can say I have honestly considered moving to Calgary JUST so I could have my kids in his Aikido program. Thanks for all you do Big Rock Aikikai. We can't wait to visit you all again soon.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful place! My son has been learning from Sensei Steve and his team for three years and he has learned a lot and absolutely loves it. They pivoted hard to online learning last year and it was such a bright spot in our pandemic lives. Supportive and caring environment, teaching kindness, awareness and discipline. So glad we found this dojo!

Sensei Steve is amazing with kids, and my son’s self esteem, ability to concentrate, his coordination and physical strength and control has dramatically improved. Very professional and well organized. It’s airy, bright and spacious, with a high ceiling. We love our weekly lessons there.
