β β β β β As a Victoria citizen who lives one block off one of their routes all I can say is that Big Bus is a terrible corporate citizen. Their buses are very noisy, belch fumes and some of their drivers have no respect for other traffic. Moreover, the sound systems on some of their buses are so loud that we can hear the commentary from inside our house from a block away.
Repeated complaints to the company have not had any meaningful effect. I feel that BIG BUS is an embarrassment to Victoria and should be banned from our city!

β β β β β Showed up to catch the 3pm bus so we'd have plenty of time to hop off at 2 different places for 1/2 hour each only to find the 3 and 3:30 buses cancelled. We were told the next bus was at 4. We purchased our tickets and wandered around until 4. That still gave us enough time to visit at least one place. When we got on at 4 we were told the bus we were on was the last one. The 4:30 and 5 buses were cancelled. Very disappointed. No getting off for pictures or looking at anything. I really felt sorry for those people that were on the earlier bus and expected to be picked up!

β β β β β This is NOT the double-decker sight-seeing buses that pick up and drop off in front of the Empress Hotel. My 9 year-old son, and his 75 year-old grandmother got on a big bus, and when they "hopped" off for ice cream at Fisherman's Wharf and tried to get picked back up on the next Big Bus, the driver of the next bus just passed them by w/out stopping, Which caused me to go pick them up from an official Big bus stop and pick them up when they were only half way through their tour! (Stop number 11) Try to call their number and their voice mailbox is full. Never a good sign! If you want an environment-killing, horrible sightseeing bus experience, Use Big Bus tours! Never Using again and you shouldn't use either!! Disappointed. Be careful! NONREFUNDABLE TICKETS.

β β β β β Awful! I bought a 2 day pass through groupon. I confirmed with Big bus that they would be running for the 2 days of my trip. When we showed up we checked in without any problems. We were given the schedule and told to enjoy the 2 day pass. We went to our hotel and planned to take the 2nd to the last bus, then make 1 stop and return on the final bus... it never came! We were 10mins early and waited 20mins after. So it never came, and no one was around for us to ask why or if had been really early. So we were dissappointed but figured at least we have all day tomorrow. Well.... we showed up for the 1st bus of the day only to discover than NO buses were running the entire day! They did not tell us this when I emailed, nor did they tell us when I checked in the day prior, apparently they just stole our $70usd and couldn't care less. Even worse, they will not refund me because I bought through groupon. And groupon hasn't refunded me yet as I've been trying for weeks but they need to check to see if the service wasn't provided. Well it WASN"T! :( So yah.... awful. Take the other hop-on-off bus company next time and maybe your vacation plans won't we ruined.

β β β β β Booked our 'Combo Pass": Hop On-Hop off Bus Tour & Butchart Gardens Shuttle & Pass through Viator. Called one day prior as requested to insure seat availability. Met the "15 passenger van" at 9:30 a.m. (which arrived 30 minutes late) then loaded with 14 + 1 driver, an extremely tight uncomfortable fit. Great self-tour of Butchart Gardens on Sunday June 9, 2019 then returned in same van being cramped, boring driver.
The following day we saw the city of Victoria on the spacious open-air Hop On-Hop Off Bus with "Derwyn" as our driver, he was very informative and personal. The bus was very comfortable and a great way to photograph the city sights. With only one bus running if you Hopped Off it would be 1-1/2 hours before the bus would return, we made one loop making only one stop at the Craigdarroch Castle, passing on 19 other stops due to the schedule. Remember to tip the driver if provide great service as Derwyn provided to us.
We wish the larger bus was used as transportation to and from the gardens and city "Hop On-Hop off" pick-up points were more frequent, otherwise it was pleasant and a fair value for the cost.

For our purposes it was perfect. We wanted to do the loop and get oriented. Snagged the Groupon deal, showed up at the Welcome Center and jumped on the bus. Seats are hard but the ambiance and audio are interesting enough to keep you distracted.
That said, it appears to be an operational disaster. They operate on two schedules with no clue as to which is in effect. "Call and ask" they say. Doing so leads a voice message and a full message mailbox. During the ride people tried to buy tickets. Their credit card machine didn't work and they couldn't make change. I also heard of busses breaking down and affecting their schedule.
However, for our goals it worked great. Buy the Groupon, pick it us at the Welcome Center, get on and stay on. We enjoyed the tour.
