I can't seem to adopt a dog i have been trying for three months now and no one is making it possible i don't understand why I am having such problems when I have so much love to give a puppy/dog i just want to start living a dog as soon as possible seems like such a waste when I have an open loving home

We have been going here since my dog was born (12 yrs ago). The care this facility provides is excellent. The staff really only have one priority: the exceptional care of the animals. They are true animal lovers.

They destroy healthy animals behind closed doors, and volunteers have to sign a form so they cannot discuss this with the media. They have lost contracts in many BC cities as a result. They are supposed to be an adoption agency and place animals in suitable homes that match the pets personality. Do not support this dreadful organization.

Hi I think you are missing Victoria's point I have also been trying to get a dog for a little more than 3 months and it seems to be an impossible thing. I get everyone is busy but we don't even get a response whether or not we will ever get a dog. Not sure if my applications are written poorly and I will never get a dog or if there are just too many applications

My family has adopted five kitties between 1986 and 2013. I'm sure the staff and volunteers see a lot of horrible things in animal rescue, and they really work hard to help every animal that goes through their doors, so utmost respect to them. We really appreciate the work the shelter staff do to make sure each potential adopter can be matched with an appropriate animal - all of our cats have been a perfect fit for us. The SPCA is the first place we'll come to when we decide to adopt another furry family member.

I am a little bit disappointed that BCSPCA mission is "to protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in BC." I had an incident with wild life animal where a young raccoon was injured on my patio and I called to get assistance and I was advised that they don't deal with wild animals, and there are only 2 places in the entire province of BC that will look after wild animals. I am heartbroken that this wild animal that was injured couldn't get the help and assistance it needed. I am not equipped to rescue wild life and now I don't know where this injured wild animal is and if it will survive. I love animals and I truly wish that there was more support for the wild animals.

I highly DO NOT recommend the BCSPCA to ANYONE!!! Ever! You claim to care about animals, be their voice....what a JOKE!!! many years ago I reported a dog being treated like a punching bag ( not in Vancouver )....I called several times before people showed up. Your lack of compassion is terrible. Now years later your compassion still HAS NOT changed....not one bit!!! You go ahead, Approve animals to be housed in cages, barns, sheds to be kicked, punched, stabbed, starved....and you do NOTHING!!! When you get reports of this....you blatantly turn in those compassionate people...and your company slogan is AND I QUOTE " Society Prevention Cruelty to Animals " Well Pigs, Cows, Turkeys, Chickens, Lambs as well as the Prisoners in Zoos, Aquariums are also horrendously ABUSED.....and you do nothing!!! STOP BEING SO HYPOCRITICAL in ALL your actions.....and STEP DOWN from your current status.....and let someone or another more COMPASSIONATE organization take your place that WILL STOP the inexcusable atrocities towards to aforementioned animals stated above. STEP DOWN because the BCSPCA FAILS ALL animals on a VERY LARGE SCALE!!!

On a short notice, a Japanese visitor and animal protection advocate friend wanted to visit SPCA. We had a thorough introduction and visit of the facility. Jody had years of experience and knowledge she willingly shared with us. This topic of animal care is different in other countries. The culture and the mindset of owning an animal is different. The essence of caring for animals is the same. So, our friend will go home to Japan with much eagerness to share her observation here. It would be awesome if we could share and develop in Japan from what SPCA here managed to do over the years. Thank you for your time to educate us, from, my initial call handled by Loey to the receptionist and Jody at SPCA in Vancouver. Your compassion was felt by us all today.
