About Baywood Dental
Dr. Amy Ylimaki is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. She was born and raised in Nipigon,Ontario and obtained an honours bachelor of science degree in Biology and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario. After graduating in 2007, she moved back to Northern Ontario, first working alongside experienced dentists, and opening Baywood Dental in 2010.
Amy’s true passion is providing the best oral health for her patients thorough comprehensive care tailored to their specific needs. She believes regular, preventative dental visits are key to maintaining a healthy smile. Amy strives to lead a team that consistently provides a friendly, caring environment for the entire family.
Amy is an active member of the dental community in Northwestern Ontario, being an executive member of Thunder Bay dental society including the role of President in 2021. She is a member of the Ontario Dental association, Canada Dental Association and Royal College of Dentists of Ontario. Amy is committed to continuing her education to better serve her family of patients.
Outside of the office, Amy enjoys spending summers at the lake and winters on the ski hill with her husband Scott, two daughters, Lakelan and Brynnley, and dog, Piper. Amy loves to travel and is a Disney enthusiast – she is known for helping her patients plan their next vacation!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been attending this clinic my entire life. What Dr. Yilimaki and her team have done with the space since taking it over is amazing. It’s kept so very clean and modern - I get the feeling they like to stay up to date with new dental technology as it comes out.
The reception staff always gives me a warm greeting upon my arrival and the wait times I’ve experienced have been virtually non-existent - which is actually unfortunate sometimes because their waiting room is so comfortable, lol.
All of the hygienists I’ve had have been very likeable and professional. They’re always keen to discuss any concerns I may have and make suggestions to help improve my dental health. Again, they seem to be very much up to date with the latest products and technologies.
I have seen Dr. Yilimaki multiple times and she’s always been great. She makes you feel comfortable by chatting casually with you and her dental assistant during any procedures, while still getting the work done quickly. I saw Dr. Al-Taweel on my last visit and it was a pleasure. I found her to be very kind and professional and l think she’s a great addition to the team.
Over all, I can’t recommend Baywood Dental enough. Going to the dentist isn’t always fun, but this is as close as it gets!
PS - I don’t have kids myself, but I’ve seen how the staff deal with them while I’ve been there, and for this as well they get an A+

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’ve had Dr. Amy for many years, and highly recommend her! She is an excellent dentist, and very compassionate and patient.
Now, new to her team, is Dr. Rasha. She recently treated my broken molar emergency, and I have to admit, I was very anxious about trying a new dentist. My fears will quickly allayed with her friendly, calm manner and reassurance. The repair was done quickly and painlessly - barely felt the freezing needle at all - and she told me exactly what she was doing before she did it. She kept me very well informed throughout the whole procedure, and left very much relieved and was very impressed with Dr. Rasha. I would definitely recommend her to anyone else requiring dental treatment. Baywood Dental has an amazing team of dental care professionals!
