I reserved a car online and went to pick it up. Whoever the man was working that day has no business being in any sort of β€œcustomer service” position. He hardly said two words to me and seemed uninterested and almost bothered when I asked questions. He gave me the keys and not another word. He did not come outside to check out the cars condition or anything, just pointed from the doorway. I was done dealing with him at this point. I walked around the car myself and took pictures of it (made sure to get the store in the background just in case). There was a fairly bad scratch/scuff on the front of it that was not noted in the paperwork. The paperwork also showed that the car had a full tank of gas which is false and I took a picture of that as well. About 5 minutes down the road, my friend who was driving in front of me text me that one of my headlights was out. I called the location I rented the car from and no one answered their phone. I left a message and never heard anything back from them the entire 5 days I had the car. I tried calling their customer service number and was told I could swap the car out at another location in the city I was going to. I then called a location the city I was and driving to see if I could swap out the car and let them know about my issue. No one from that location called me back either. Terrible customer service. It’s not hard to pick up a phone and call your customers back period, especially one who was having an issue that was out of my control. Had I gotten pulled over and gotten a ticket for a headlight out I would have been even more livid. These people should not be in customer service positions if they can’t even handle the basic simplicities that come along with their jobs. Someone who has a great experience will maybe tell 1-2 people but someone who has a bad experience will tell so many more. Here is some friendly advice Avis, you can save money each month if you stop paying for a phone line you refuse to use. Ridiculous. All of this being said, car ran great and I had no other issues with it. I was satisfied with the price I paid to rent it, although if I get charged for the scratch or the headlight (both of which have picture proof that they happened before I got the car) then I will not be satisfied with the price anymore. I guess there has to be SOME good that justifies the 1 star rating since there is no option for 0 stars. I will not be giving my business to this location or entire company ever again. I will stick with Enterprise.

I went to this avis location a week or so ago to get a car to use as mine was in the shop. The gentleman at the front desk was very easy to talk to and very helpful. He answered all questions I asked him with respect to insurance information, ease of car return , and even went as far as giving me a helpful opinion on my current car situation. After my original rental period was over, I needed to extend another week which he did within five minutes. I have been to other car rental places before that had long waiting times and mix ups when I had scheduled a car in advance. I was very happy with the customer service at this location and will return if the need arises.

This place saved me a headache. last minute lucked out got a cube truck someone cancelled on thankfully. So it made the move a thousand times better. I would like to thank the gentleman that helped me out but I'm not good with names sorry. This place has great prices and staff.

Booked car and picked up at 10 but when we reach for pickup the guys left white bord that he will be back in 30 mins. There were 4 people standing in que saying that they were here since 9.00

Bad service.I called and informed that i will be picking up the car at specific time. But store was closed and i called them again they said will be back in 15 mins. After 40 mins the person came and gave the car. My entire trip was delayed.

Service was fast and efficient, the car I rented was brand new, a bit over 10000km on it, very well maintained. The fees are incredibly high if you don't refuel the car or if you use a toll route, but it make sense since they are a for profit. Definitely my to go place to rent a car in Waterloo as of now. They were a lot cheaper than their competitors.

Dec 18, 2021 update: contacted Susan then got transferred a Customer Service Rep. Here's the response: "However, at our locations in the U.S. and Canada, customers are allowed a grace period of 29 minutes before any additional time and mileage charges are applied. After 30 minutes, a charge of three-quarters of the daily rate is applied." I get that, the problem is staff 69803 did not communicated this grace period, was unprofessional and dishonest that I had to return the car at 4:30 pm. No mention of the grace period. Staff training required, especially for staff 69803. Aside from this, the real problem is the shady practice of changing my contact from 5 pm to 4:30 pm with pick up at 4:38 (arrived early before my pick up time of 4:45). Given the Rep's standard response and not looking at better training for staff, it supports taking my business somewhere else. ====================================================== Original review: If you value peace of mind, honesty, professionalism, go to another location (recommend enterprise). My second time renting from Avis because enterprise was all reserved, first at another location, second is at Weber St S location. Both times with Avis is similar experience - bad to worse. This Weber location, front desk is dishonest and unprofessional. Reserved a car to return at 5 pm/after hours, changed to SUV as one was available but didn't realize it was changed to 4:30 return. Paying for an extra day of rental is not the problem. The problem is while changing the contract to the SUV, it's shady to change the return time. Will never go here again. If you don't believe the unprofessionalism, go and see for yourself.
