The term euthanasia originates from the greek language and translates as “a good death”. The practice of helping pet’s transition from life to death in a painless, dignified and humane way is a gift that we as veterinarians have. Saying good-bye to our faithful companions is one of the most difficult decisions we as pet owner will ever make. Dr. Kirsten MacKenzie is dedicated to making this transition from life to death as peaceful and comfortable as possible.
At-home euthanasia services will allow you to choose how you would like to say goodbye to your cherished and faithful companion. You and others who care for your pet may be present and allowed to grieve in the privacy of your own home. Your furry family member is able to spend his or her last moments where they are most comfortable, at home surrounded by family, friends and other family pets. Dr. Kirsten is available by appointment only. Dr. Kirsten will do her best to accommodate individual client needs and will often be able to schedule same day appointments. Services provided by At Home Vet Services on weekends and evenings after 8:00 pm are subject to an additional fee. Travel distance over 30 km will also be charged a travel fee.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dr MacKenzie responded to our request for help as our dog neared the end of her life due to cancer.
She was able to attend our home, explain in detail what would happen. She was patient and compassionate at a time when we were so distraught and sad. We all knew that euthanasia was the best decision, but it didn't make the experience any easier.
Dr Mac.Kenzie euthanized our 13 year old pup as she layed in her favourite bed surrounded by our family petting our dog, while she was pain free and peacefully drifted away.
As much as it hurt, we can all appreciate everything Dr. MacKenzie did for us and our beautiful dog.
I highly recommend Dr. MacKenzie when and if you find yourself in a similar situation to ours. Home euthanasia is the kindest way. She will arrange everything that follows too.

But for saying goodbye being the hardest thing I've ever had to do and her making it as peaceful and easy as possible and after putting up with all my postponing and rescheduling Dr. Kirsten is worth 10 stars. I am very happy that I chose to say goodbye this way and I can't thank Dr. Kirsten enough.

Not only was she very kind and understanding of our grief, but she made sure to explain what she was doing every step of the way. This was the best choice for us as our dog did not like the vet or the car, so this way he was not stressed in his last moments

Dr. Kirsten went above and beyond to help us find the right time to let go, she helped us understand every step. Making decisions was much easier because of her experience, understanding and truly caring nature about what is best for animals.
