Takeshi is such a sweetheart! I have recently moved to Vancouver and struggled to find a stylist who could cut my hair like my Paul Mitchell color expert from back home in the United States. Takeshi expertly cut my hair just like my previous stylist based on the photo I shared with him and a few questions about my personal preferences. He was very considerate and careful, as well as patient with me when I practiced my limited Japanese with him. I think quality hair care is worth invest in and although AOI is more than I would have spent back home in the U.S., it's prices are very comparable to other salons I've found in Vancouver. I highly recommend Takeshi and AOI salon.

I came here about 2 years ago and got shocked with the price I paid, but after trying some other hair salons I realized Aoi is a very good hair salon. My hair natural is very unique and the stylist here had the most respect to my natural hair. I think I will come back for a hair cut soon.

After years of hair stylist hunt, I can't be happier that I found Takeshi here. He listens and pays great attention to details. He's so great at dealing with Asian long hair. I have been coming here for years for haircuts, dye and perm. He delivers the style to my expectations every single time. They also provide head message, scalp cleaning and facial services. Their Japanese technician is very skillful and you can feel and see the difference right after. Highly recommended.

I've been getting my hair cut by Takeshi for ~7 years and during that time I've moved to other cities/provinces and still made time to get my hair cut here whenever I'm in Vancouver visiting family & friends. If you have thick unruly hair like me, Takeshi will work wonders. AOI salon has a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that I appreciate very much. I wish I lived closer, so I could go for a trim more often.

I wished I live in Vancouver but well worth the ardous trip from afar to visit this salon due to the fact there is no Japanese head spas in Vancouver Island. Takeshi had been most polite conversing with me over the phone since June but finally had the opportunity to reserve a spot this month as the salon is busy and I had to coordinate availability with my limited trips to the mainland. I was fortunate to meet him in person and I saw how highly in demand he was (was working with another client as I walked into the salon). Sayaka did my scalp cleansing and I appreciate all her humble education and tips about my scalp condition and what I can do to improve it and hair quality. All this time I thought my hair was oily when in fact it was the complete opposite, dry as a bone. The head spa was exhilarating; I felt so incredibly relaxed and comfortable throughout the experience. For those who have never tried a Japanese head spa before, I encourage to try it out. There was no camera to the scalp for a visual exam but the modest pricing makes up the value ($75 for 90 minute treatment) and my hair was incredibly soft to the touch like an infant's according to my boyfriend and his friends. The compliments and positive feedback blew me away. I had damaged hair on the tips and Sakaya recommended a trim of a few inches, but the only availability was on the date around the time I was heading to the ferry home. Thanks to their evaluation, I will have the maintenance trim in my home town, but I hope to arrange haircuts and head spas with the salon in future whenever I'm in the area.
