******WARNING****** I'll I can say is this is a SCAM company. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS BUSINESS. They are no show, no contact once they receive your deposit. Took our deposit of $531.25 and have been emailing for over a month to provide confirmation of event date and invoice to ensure we were booked for our event with also leaving several messages. Not one reply since leaving us high and dry for a party with 60 guests and now the voicemail is full as they have probably done the same to many other people and no return of funds.

In short, avoid at all costs. Ace of Hearts was hired by my aunt to cater my mother’s celebration of life on May 25th. She paid a deposit, in cash. Numerous email exchanges happened between Renée the owner and my aunt regarding details prior to the event. The date came and as the start time of the celebration approached (30 minutes before) I called to ask if they were on their way. No answer-just voice mail. I called again as the proceedings began. No answer. My family members and friends had to step in and serve food and drinks—all of which my wonderful aunt had gathered from Cosco (thank God) as “extra” food in case we needed it. I received a call from someone called “Richard Horrocks” three hours after the proceedings had started, but I did not answer the call as I did not recognize the number. There was no message. I later learned that the owner’s last name is “Horrocks”, so perhaps this was them trying to get a hold of me, but with no voice mail it’s hard to know why. After numerous attempts to get ahold of this “business” to explain what happened, my family members have been ignored, hung up on, and most recently I’ve learned that they are now REFUSING TO RETURN OUR DEPOSIT. We have no recourse now but to deliver an honest account of our experience in as many places as possible so as to warn anyone who is considering hiring this company. In short, avoid at all costs.

We are sitting here at our friends wedding. Aces of hearts catering is a no show. No notice, they tried to call. Finally called and got a response. They feel that they are not obligated to fulfill the contract. The bride and groom and the family is now ordering pizza to feed the guests. I would have given 0 stars!!!

Ace of Hearts is a sham of a business. Renee Horrocks will confirm through email and phone calls your menu for the event, dates and times, and will ask and accept a deposit of at least $400, and when the time comes, she will be a no show. She will then avoid taking your calls, texts and emails. If you get lucky and call from a number she doesn’t know, and you actually reach her, she will give you a sob story, tell you she is going to send you an etransfer after she does a “drop off” and gets paid. You will not receive your refund and will be ghosted, yet again. Many reviews of similar experiences with no shows and money being stolen. I’ve even had someone reach out via personal message to say she’s in the same situation. Absolutely shameful behaviour. Renee Horrocks how do you look at yourself in the mirror.

Renee was a no-show at our wedding. I had initially considered providing my own hors d'oeuvres for the cocktail hour at our wedding, but decided to save myself the trouble and sought out a professional catering company. My correspondence with Renee began on July 11th via phone when she asked me to email with some menu ideas and she would provide a quote. On July 12th, after exchanging multiple emails, we agreed on a menu and she said “we will be there for 3pm at [the venue] deliver and set up then on July 21st “. She said the balance could be paid anytime before delivery, so I sent it to her that day. On July 21st, our wedding day, I arrived at the reception venue to learn that the caterer we hired to provide hors d'oeuvres did not show up. There was a 3 hour gap between the ceremony and dinner, and I had intended on feeding my guests during this time. Despite this intention, the food that I had ordered and paid for never arrived, so my guests were unfed and drinking on empty stomachs on a scorching hot summer day for 3 hours while our wedding party was having wedding photos done. When my matron of honour learned about this problem, she called Renee and Renee claimed to have never heard of me. I did, however, receive an email from Renee about an hour later with a refund and an apology about “missing my order” with the reason being that she did not create an invoice for my order, it’s a really busy season, and she is “looking at getting an assistant so this kind of stuff doesn’t happen again”. I understand that this kind of mistake can happen. I understand that Ace of Hearts catering is having a busy season and perhaps missing 1 order amongst 100 doesn’t seem very substantial, but while Ace of Hearts is fulfilling those 99 orders, I only get to have 1 wedding. A brief apologetic email and refund don’t make up for our hungry guests, the stressed out wedding party, or the lingering guilt I felt days after the wedding.

Well yup it's a scam. We had booked AOH for our wedding a whole ago when it was a 4.5 star reviewed company, saw all of these reviews popping up saying they no-showed and so we booked a tasting to make sure to meet and scope out the scene before the wedding. Wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt because sometimes online reviews are you know..... Exaggerated. Thank you so much too all of the people warning of a scam, because our tasting was a no-show. They've ghosted us since then. We're getting a lawyer about our deposit. Not exactly what I wanted to deal with a month before the wedding not to mention having to find another caterer, but because of the other people's warning we got off easier than some. The most interesting to me is if you filter the reviews by date. Looks like they just completely gave up a little while ago.

We had the Ace of Hearts cater our wedding this past September. We are still hearing from some of our guests about how great the food was. Renee is very easy to work with and she is full of ideas. She is also open to other ideas and food options if you have something specific in mind. On top of it all, the food is absolutely amazing and so reasonably priced. We had several food options for everyone and we could not get enough of your vegetarian lasagna! If you are looking for good food and being able to give your guests different food options this is the place! Thank you so very much Renee. Cassie & Shawn

I booked with Renee August 2018 for a wedding in Summer 2019. She gladly took the security deposit- was a no show for the taste test. She said she would still cater my wedding though, I did not want to risk it and we decided she would refund my $400.00 in a weeks time. It’s now been 5 months since I’ve heard from Renee, she will not answer my calls/emails. If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would. It’s really sad that she actively tried to ruin what was the best day!
