I really wish I could provide a good review. The best thing I can say is that the thought is thereβ€”but this 'rescue' fails to deliver on some of the most critical aspects of rescue organizations. My first experience with them was fostering. I fell into itβ€”I didn't choose them as an organization to volunteer with. And I don't regret it, but if I was to foster again, there's no way in hell I'd do it with Dolores. First of all, she thinks she knows absolutely everything and if you dare question her, she gets angry at you (I had a couple yelling matches with her on the phone over concerns I had, one of which ended with her telling me to feed my dog "margarine and noodles" to gain weightβ€”yeah right). Second, and most importantly, there is no due diligence. Her goal is to place as many dogs in homes as possibleβ€”period. She doesn't want potential adopters to know about issues because that might affect their decision to adopt. There have been several instances I know of where adopters are interested in a dog clearly not suited to them (e.g., someone in the family is scared of big dogs, there are kids and the dog isn't good with kids, etc.) and she pushes it forward anyway. My experience turned out great and we ended up adopting our foster. We now have a lovely dog (who isn't without his issues) that gets along with our other rescue. But my partner and I talk often about how our dog's situation could have been a nightmare if he ended up with a family who isn't able to manage (or didn't know about!) things like aggression towards strangers coming in the home, food guarding, anxiety (which manifests as aggression) when he's in strange places, and extremely strong prey drive. As I said above, the thought is there. But you need at least some business sense, knowledge of how to run a nonprofit (although I think this is a for-profit), and a thorough understanding of best practices for rescues and adoptionsβ€”and I'm not sure Dolores has any of those. If you want to foster or adopt, consider DIBS, Fetch & Releash, or Save our Scruff instead.

Really bad experience with lack of understanding. Place seems to be more interested in money than finding right fit for their dogs. Foster place was understanding however the adoption place was rude, accusing, non understanding, and kept asking for money for a dog we had for two days and never even received papers. Bio was false, as dog is much older than they stated, has vision issues and is aggressive towards males which does not state in his bio at all. If they are more truthful in dog's bio at least people would know what to expect when deciding to adopt a dog. We had to block them due to being harassed and for being rude in their text messages. Horrible first time experience, hope poor dog finds a good home but would not recommend this adoption place.

I bought a dog from the owner operator several years ago. Although I kept the dog and love him I am extremely resentful of the lies I was told about our dog. He was an foxhound cross and I was told was another breed. He had very problematic behaviours which were never disclosed. I would never participate in another agreement with this rescue. Mainly because you don't know we hat you are getting into and you will not be given an accurate understanding of the animal you want to adopt.

Amazing group of humans helping hound dogs. Our dog Jerry has been with us for three years now and we could not love him anymore.

We were lucky to have adopt a dog from Dolores couple of yrs ago, for her age and health , Dolores is doing a amazing service to many families who adopt a pet from her . God bless her ! PS: Choose adopting a pet ( vs buying a puppy) ,

I adopted my dog Droopy from Dolores in late 2018. Very professional and caring about who the dog was going to end up with in the end. Droopy passed away from kidney failure after just shy of 2 years with me (literally undetectable on blood results 6 months before I got him so in no way was this Dolores's fault). He had the best life, best vet care and kidney food & meds. Worth every minute spent with him... What eats me up are some of the bad reviews...How can Dolores only be looking for money (one complaint I saw) yet refuse a dog to an outdoorsman who may have "other" intentions for having a pet? These complaints contradict each other. Dolores is professional & stern only for the betterment of the dog's future wellbeing. If they are still rescuing dogs past 2020 then I recommend them and when ready, I would adopt an adult/mature dog from this rescue again. The adoption monies they receive do not even begin to cover the monies spent vetting and caring (fostering...) for the pets until they are adopted (I received all the papers to attest to this statement). Adopters are given ample time to see how the dog reacts to its new environment... The description of my dog by its foster was VERY ACCURATE. Fox Creek Animal Hospital cared for my dog extremely well. I met other A Dog's Dream Rescue adopters who use Fox Creek as well due to the trust in the veterinary clinic (Dr. Sandha and staff). I've been driving from Mississauga to Oakville just for the honest & hard working Doctor & staff at Fox Creek. I read all the negative reviews and I truly believe that most of the people complaining should not own dogs as they don't realize the service Dolores does for the dogs...thinking she's making big $$$ off the adoption charges, thinking she is stern for any other reason but the well being of the dogs... The only important thing here is finding a "forever home" for these needy, loving animals.

Love fostering the dogs. They have nothing.toys, treats, beds & couches are foreign to them. And to transform is the most beautiful thing. I have not had one aggressive dog. They are so, thank u for saving me. They don't forget. Please adopt, don't shop ? best group of dogs ever. They dont forget!

Please save yourself the stress and heart ache, do not apply to adopt a dog from this organization. While I want to believe Dolores has the dog's best interest at heart, all my interactions with her made me feel like she is just interested in the money and not about putting dogs in good homes. TLDR version of my experience - The owner/operator, Dolores, is difficult to get in touch with. Personal information of other applicants was accidentally shared with me. Over the course of a week and a half I was called and texted multiple times about dogs I didn't apply for or know anything about, before being approved for the dog I actually applied for. I was texted multiple times at inconsiderate hours of the night about when I would pick up the dog, only to be told days later by the dog's current owner that they didn't think my home would be a good fit. When I informed Dolores that I would not be proceeding with the adoption, and asked for my personal information to be removed from her files, she was very rude talking about how I "begged her" to let me adopt this dog and called me "bitter," even though it was not my choice to not adopt this dog. Please do not waste your time with this organization.
