L	LIZ ALELIZ on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Although it could benefit from a renovation, I love the location and classes. Overal the staff is nice with the odd weird encounter. Their summer camps are really good. The only thing I really dislike is they let everyone use the family dressing rooms, so you go there with your kids and often find the single guy sans kids using the same space, WEIRD. Everyone has the password as they never change it. I formally complained and asked for the director to contact me months ago and still waiting.

The steam room is not accessible to all; you need to pay extra to use as well, as the pool is not open all the time (Seton has a better option for Steam room and pool) Zumba classes have the worse instructor ever (Tea). Hazel, on the other hand, is amazing if you want to have a true Zumba experience. Yoga classes are amazing. The gym is ok, equipped with a variety of machines etc.
B	Bill Lukawy on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Friendly staff, extremely clean Men's locker room, showers, steam room ( with plus membership). Pool is great for an adult. I wouldn't take my boys here (6 year old twin boys) as they would have absolutely no find the pool. At their age having waterslides is more important so I go to Southland Leisure Centre (sorry YMCA Shawnessy, kids need more then a pool to swimming lengths for excercise.) But if your needs are excercising then fantastic.
K	Kyle Thivierge on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ DO NOT! And I mean DO NOT! Come at 4:00PM - 6:00PM. You will not be able to use a single machine only free weight dumbells. There are far too many kids. I recommend going early or late if you want a chance to workout :)
J	Justin R. on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It may be small and older than newly built YMCAs such as Seton/Brooklyn Residential, but YMCA is always affordable compared to other gyms while having the additional benefits of having access to their pool and basketball court. It is especially affordable if you take advantage of their + ONE discount option when you create an account with family or a significant other. I go to the Y 4~6 times a week and I easily even out the membership price I pay monthly by the services I use each visit. It might not be the most top-notch and fancy recreational facility with the newest fitness equipment or renovations, but I highly appreciate the YMCA for their affordability and accomodation for all income classes/age groups. However I must say that their Quarry Park or Seton facility is pretty fancy.

I used to like this place ?‍♂️ sadly should you need to miss a couple months for surgery or whatever, you can put your membership on hold but they will quietly restart your payments without any notification after 2 months. And when you figure it out (even within hours) they will tell you "refunds are against their policy". I am a little confused as to how a company that touts its core values being responsibility, respect and honesty fits with quietly restarting memberships without notification coupled with a rock solid no refund policy. Shame.
L	Leigh Saulnier-George on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good gym! Very nice volunteers and staff. Also accommodating for low income families for affordability. Only downside is if you would like to use the steam shower you need to be a plus member. You can use the hot tub though which is good!
C	Christine Lefebvre on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well I have to say that Shawnessy YMCA is a very welcoming and family friendly environment! Staff at the counter is always eager to help and you are greeted With a smile. My son and I attend the YMCA for his weekly swimming lessons, so I have only experienced the pool portion of the facility. If I had to give one feedback about the operations of the pool, it would have to be, that some of the trainers lack experience in dealing with children of such a young age. Many are very young adults and are brilliant at teaching the curriculum of swimming, but they seem to struggle with the managing of children part. Their short attentions, differences in learning/abilities and managing the group of children and still being able to teach seems to be a struggle. I had two sessions like this where I did not see a lot of progress in my sons skill because the teacher was unsure how to engage rogue swimmers. Then the next session a tenured guard who was able to multi task with both the lesson and the children! So I think what I am suggesting is that guards not only have to have the swimming education, obviously, but also knowledge on how to manage the group, how to speak with and direct young minds so they will be intrigued about the lesson. I am sure this may come with practice and tenure, but having this going into each session means the Children will have a much more full filling experience each and every time! Thank-you
