★ ★ ★ ★ ★ WJS Canada has few positive attributes in my opinion. The major one being they are part of the BCGEU which dictates wages and job security. Beyond that they have minimal training and management is often inadequate and unreachable. Programs are often understaffed and require staff to work overtime to fill gaps in staffing for the 24/7 programs. Training consists of 6 hours of policy reading followed by a couple shadow shifts but program rules and documentation is often lacking so becomes inconsistent for youth that require consistent structure. In my experience management was unable to perform their job and when removed senior staff replaced them with little to no training and left with the mess from previous management and expected to perform above and beyond manageable workloads. Violence often occurs in the homes and staff are "suggested" not to press charges and there is minimal support from upper management. Non-violent crisis intervention training is offered but often understaffing means staff that need the training cannot attend.
