★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a gem to visit! On a road trip and needing a stop to let the kids move a bit. An ice cream,petting zoo, pretty flowers and the most beautiful oasis with butterflies, caterpillars, birds and mini quails. We for sure will be coming back!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I usually love this place. Genuinely have never had any issues until now. I even have a cactus from here I purchased over 3 years ago and its still thriving!
Purchased a $40 monstera recently - took it home to find it has fungal gnats & root rot. Veryy annoying that I paid a lot for the plant, but now have to hope I dont kill it as I repot it/air it out
& hope that the gnats dont go elsewhere (not so much of a big deal than an annoyance.)
Just a heads up to inspect their plants before you buy. Other than that I have had 0 issues - I definitely should have done this but I figured it being a greenhouse they would be on top of stuff like that :)

There’s a free petting zoo and a beautiful butterfly garden that has more than just butterflies. Turtles and button quail and parrots and coi.
There are bigger parrots in a corner and rows upon rows of beautiful plants. They have one of the best selection of roses I’ve seen in Alberta and many beautiful places to sit and nurse. Plus ice cream and coffee and a bathroom if you need.

Awesome little stop in Medicine Hat
The butterfly’s were amazing and felt like we were walking in a whole new world.
The flowers were near the end of season but looks like they would have a huge variety.
Lots to look at.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Over the last 5 years the selection of annuals and perennials has not been as great as it was. I asked a staff member who happened to be the manager and she said it was based on what the majority bought. Fair enough. I'm unable to buy a lot of the plants I used to in the store now.
I also find the the atmosphere less welcoming. It's like they don't want to be open anymore. Get the plants, sell them as fast as they can and close. Not what it used to be. It's a shame because The Windmill used to be my favourite place.

Didn't have too much interaction with staff personally but I observed a staff member going above and beyond helping another customer grabbing flowers for her. Very impressed with the staff's professionalism despite the customer's lack of appreciation.
