β β β β β I recently went to see Willow Garden Apartments. I wanted to share our experience as it was totally unprofessional and rude. We recently relocated to Vancouver and this was the first apartment we wanted to see. I liked the place and made an appointment and explicitly mentioned that we are a family of 3 including a toddler. The manager booked the tour, and when we reached she also showed us the apartment on the second floor. But then out of nowhere she says that she would prefer a family who doesn't have a toddler. Why couldn't she tell me before I made the long journey to the apartment? Totally wasted our time and made a really bad first impression of Vancouver for us. At least I'm certain that I'll never be renting out Willow Gardens.

β β β β β Willow Gardens was built in the 1960s. The buildings are a bit old and you expect to see some animals like silverfishes often in the apartment. There are complaints from residents about rats issues.
It used to be close to the supermarket, shopping mall, library... However, since Oakridge mall is under construction, all of those are gone, and this will last for at least 10 years. (based on the Oakridge mall construction plan) The nearest SkyTrain station is 10mins to walk, nearest restaurant is 10mins to walk, nearest supermarket is 30 mins to walk, so without a car, it would be inconvenient.
The advantage of this location is it is close to Annie B. Jamieson Elementary School, it is a good school. Because of this, there are many kids in the neighbourhood. If the apartment is facing the garden or swimming pool, you expect kids to shout and scream during summer holidays the whole day until 10pm.
The current property managers are quite new and do not have much customer service experience.

β β β β β I recently moved here and I love it so far. I have 2 kids and my husband. The management are super friendly and organized. I like that my kids play outside at the garden and I get to see them while working and studying.
Also, itβs safe for them to actually go outside.
My husband use the gym which is super clean. The swimming pool is closed now. It's close to canada line and 49 bus, like 13 mins walking to the train and 8 mins to the bus which is healthy walking. Oakridge mall is open partially. Seven11 is also 10 mins walking distance and bus 17.

β β β β β Previous there were 3 staffs, but the common corridors, laundry rooms were always clean. Now they have 6 staffs permanently on site but seems no one is doing basic cleaning/maintaining any more.
I see mouse running in the gardens, abandoned bike on the bushes for months...and now, we began to lose items. As far as I know, two families have lost bikes in past month.
I look forward to seeing if they are going to do anything.

β β β β β Beautiful property with professional onsite staff! I have been here for almost a year and my maintenance requests are always handled quickly. Ryan the building manager is very knowledgeable and is always willing to help. My suite is spacious and comfortable. There is also a pool and gym onsite. I can't think of a better place to work from home during this lockdown. This is a rare gem in the middle of the city!
