Amazing selection of non-traditional bridal gowns. I purchased my wedding dress here and Amanda was so helpful and sweet. She made the entire process stress free from start to finish. Thank you for the incredible service and my gorgeous dress! I cannot wait to share pictures from my big day.

This is the most amazing wedding experience you will ever have. The selection is so unique and beautiful, my dress designers at Kathryn Bass Bridals were very understanding with my special alterations and I wasn't worried once about miscommunications, and they were so efficient, and Amanda is the most personable and thorough shop owner. She will give you an intimate and personal experience. I had the BEST experience in this shop. (photos to come later ;) )

I went wedding dress shopping with my daughter. We went to several wedding dress shops through the Okanagan and found Whimsy & Wry to be very accommodating, warm, and down to earth. Amanda at Whimsy & Wry has something special going on at her shop. She has a sixth sense for helping brides find what she wants, and makes the experience fun for everyone! My family went along with my sister to help her choose a dress, and Amanda kept everything focused, fun, and on budget. The lines carried in house are amazingly beautiful, and there’s lots of local Canadian dresses.

I can’t begin to explain how amazing my experience at Whimsy and Wry was. Amanda went above and beyond to make sure my appointment was spectacular. She worked with me and the designer to create a completely unique and fun dress. This is a must for any bride who is looking for a fun appointment and the dresses are to die for. What a fantastic experience! My mum was the only bride in the shop which meant she got a very personal experience. Amanda runs an ethical shop meaning all the dresses are made by designers that pay their employees a living wage and this includes designers not only from Canada but as close as Vancouver. She also carries a variety of sizes allowing my bustier mom to find a dress off the rack. I would highly, highly recommend shopping there for your wedding dress.

Not only is there an absolutely stunning selection of wedding gown's here but Amanda truly went above and beyond to deliver a pair of earrings I bought for my mom as a last minute Christmas gift that she saw when we were there trying on dresses in the summer. I messaged her through IG and she sent me photos of the selection she had in stock, wrapped them up so sweetly and delivered them straight to my moms door. Seriously amazing!!

Amanda was an absolute dream to work with! I planned a secret elopement and everything had to come together in just a few months. She was prompt in all of her communications with me. It was a few months back now, and at that time it felt really nice to have a private appointment/safe space during the height of the pandemic. I was a little bit emotional not being able to have friends or family there and so Amanda kindly set up an area where a loved one could zoom into my appointment. In terms of space, wow - Whimsy and Wry is a magical little boutique in Penticton. I absolutely felt like a bride in there. I love how Amanda explained the format of her store and a little bit about her background. It helped to ground and situate me. Amanda carefully considered my inspiration pics and curated a selection of gowns for me to try on. We went by process of elimination, trying on different styles until I was able to get a sense of what worked for me. She also took into consideration my budget. I jokingly asked her if brides really do cry when they tried on their gowns and she said that it all depended on the person. Low and behold when I tried the "one" on, I did cry - from a joyful place. Amanda was amazing at holding space, keeping it real, respecting my process and allowing me time to decide. I slept on my decision and later that week returned to complete my purchase. I bought a dress off the rack and so when it was ready for pick up, she had it steamed and ready to go for me. She was warm in her communications and set the tone for what would end up being a wonderful experience wedding planning in general. She recommended some amazing Okanagan vendors and I was impressed with each and every one of them! Brides, Amanda has something for you at Whimsy and Wry.
