The Wheatland Society of Arts provides visual art, educational, and skill-building workshops to Wheatland County and the surrounding region.
About Wheatland Society Of Arts
Wheatland Society of Arts was incorporated in November of 1986 and has provided varying visual arts opportunities through the decades. For many years (right up until 2016) it ran as an adult art group, using whatever space it could afford to rent to hold a handful of classes and an occasional art show each year. In the most recent years Storefront School graciously offered a low-cost space, and before that the Municipal Library did the same.
From the very beginning the vision was to promote visual arts and eventually secure a studio and gallery. It has often been a struggle, volunteers managed to hold the society together all these years… until we were fortunate enough to secure a space to call home – Wheatland Society of Arts Studio and Gallery at 115 3rd Ave.
Since the grand opening of the Studio and Gallery in January 2017, Wheatland Society of Arts has been growing at an amazing rate. Shortly after opening, support for the vision really began to build; with the most significant contributor being the Town of Strathmore. Grants and fundraising contribute at increasing levels as we are able to put more effort into securing such funds. And the impact of time given by volunteers is valuable beyond words.
