Delicious pastel and coxinha! Fresh, tasty and great customer service! A bit pricey, but that’s the price to pay when you miss food from your home country… it not only fills up the belly but also the heart ???

This place definitely has the wow factor! If you wanna try the pastel (empanadas) and drink the sugar cane juice, there you will find it. Every bite will travel you to Brazil and gives you the taste of having street food with all the energy of that amazing country. They also have Brazilian bites, like the Coxinha. I can not say the food is good because it was perfection in the shape of happiness. They don't serve food, they serve an experience. Go there and try it! Suggestion: in the website, give precise instructions about where it is located. Last time I was in Vancouver I gave up going there because we could not find it. This time someone told us it was inside the station.

When you say "deep-fried" you generally get my attention... Which is why I dropped by Whatafood at the New West Skytrain to try their Brazilian pastel. Specifically, their beef and cheese pastel which is a deep-fried pocket of ground beef and cheese wrapped inside a flaky pastry. First off, the pastry shell was light and flaky. I wish it came with something to hold it with... like a cardboard wrapper to keep the oil off your hands and to help keep it together. Mine was wrapped in paper napkins which sorta helped to sop up the oil but did little to add to the structural integrity of the pastel. Hence, it got very messy to eat as the thin shell fell apart easily as I ate it. I did like the cheesy pull but it could have used more cheese throughout. The beef could have used some seasoning but they have a pack of hot sauce and ketchup. Just under $10. Prepared pretty quick and ok for a snack.

It is a traditional Brazilian snack bar where you will find out pastels and guarana or if even sugar caine juice. The price is a little bit high, but if you miss the Brazilian food, it is a place that worth any penie. Kind staff and fresh food.

Awesome customer service from Victor! The place is a nice place to chill and eat pastels. Plus they got groceries from Brazil. Do wish they had more options such as pΓ£o de queijo but they are still a new business.

I liked the texture of the crisply fried dough in my beef and cheese pastel, but I found it pricy based on the sparse amount of filling and it was a bit bland tasting. It was also a very long wait (15 mins) despite the fact that we were the only ones in the joint. I had to inquire about my order and the cashier explained that my wife’s chicken pie was still being prepared and it was delayed because their gravy machine was broken. By the time I received my pastel, it was luke warm, but the chicken was hot. The chicken tasted like it was from a can though. I had also wanted to try their fresh pressed sugar cane juice but alas, that juice press was also broken. Not sure I would give this place a second try. Maybe for the fresh sugar cane juice as I miss fresh pressed sugar cane juice! I would have given 1 star but the cashier seemed very apologetic for the delay, so I moved it up one star.

Different! Tasty pastels are like flat large samosas. Inside the New West SkyTrain mall across from Dollar Store. All venue with limited seating. Try the chicken and cheese! It's definitely something unique. Underground parking available.
