Great work and no issues with several jacket repairs and pant hems I've had done. Prices are pretty good

Great quality work. Prices decent. She will remove liner to sew on patches so your pockets aren't sewed shut like some other places.

Ridiculous lack of professionalism. I used Westmount tailors several times in the past. I found the owner's work of a decent quality and the prices were about mid-range. Recently, I was finishing up a house renovation and at the decorating stage of the process. I needed our dining room drapes shortened. There was only 4 panels and it was a straight forward hem job, nothing complicated. I can sew very well and have my own machine but I needed to cut down on some of tasks I did myself so I decided to make my life a bit easier and have someone else hem the drapes. I took the curtains to Westmount tailors on a Friday. The owner asked me when I needed the curtains back, I said 2-3 days because we were having company for dinner the following week. She said the earliest she could have them completed was 5 days later on a Wednesday at 6pm. The timing was not ideal but I agreed. I did not ask about the cost because I was familiar with her prices and being a sewer myself, I know that hemming a curtain panel, as compared to tailoring clothes, is a very easy task. I returned to pick up the drapes at 6:15 pm on Wednesday. When the owner saw me, she looked surprised and then sheepishly told me the curtains would be done in an hour. I looked down and saw that the panels were sitting in a pile on the floor and I realized that she had not even touched them! I specifically told her that I needed the curtains in 3 days, she made me wait 5 days, didn't do the job and then looked surprised that I was there on time for my pick up. I was furious but didn't say anything, other then I would return in an hour. As a similar example, can you imagine if you went to a dry cleaner to pick up your clothing and the clerk tells you, sorry, I know what the pick up tag says but come back in an hour and in the back room you can see your clothing sitting in a pile on the floor; hard to imagine because it does not happen. During the drive home, approximately 10 minutes after I left the business, the owner called me on my cell phone. She wanted to know if she had told me the cost to complete the job. I said no, a price was not quoted. I assumed that as her prices for tailoring had been reasonable in the past, the cost to hem a few panels would be even less than a tailoring job. I could not have been more wrong. I was told it would cost $40 to hem EACH PANEL. $160 to hem 4 curtain panels. Preposterous. I could buy a new set of curtains for that amount so I said no, I will come and get the curtains. She responded that she had already completed one panel. She hemmed one panel in less than 10 minutes and charged $40 for less than 10 minutes work. The other 3 panels she could probably have done in about 30 minutes and she wanted $160. I don't believe in making a scene in a place of business so when I returned, I just paid for the one panel and left. The owner's business practices have eroded to an unrecognizable level. Her attitude and disrespect in not even attempting to hide that she could not be bothered to keep her pick up time was one thing but then she attempted to charge me an exploitative rate to do a simple job. In the end, because of what she would have charged had she hemmed all four panels, her lack of professionalism in not having the job done on time was my lucky escape. The best I can do is to turn a negative into a positive and help someone else by leaving this review for folks who may consider Westmount tailors. You have been warned. Go elsewhere, there are other tailors in the City.

I took my graduation dress in to get it tailored to my size, a week later it was done and I went to pick it up. I was wearing it and changed for a performance I was doing. When I went to put my dress back on for photos the zipper got caught on one of the many loose threads and it broke. $39.90 is what it cost. she made it my size but didn't clean up the loose threads. I am not pleased as the dress it's self was $169.99

I took in 2 skirts for hemming($20 each?) then decided not to get it done so I called to cancel Hemming but she cut one skirt already and charged me $21. Much better places to go to that don’t gouge customers

They have given me an estimate of "ready for pickup" and not had it ready more than once. The reason for my (lowest I could) rating is this: I had them replace a zipper for $35, which was no problem at all. This was in the summer, within the last few months. Now that it is winter I for the first time zipped the coat right up to my chin. It jammed. I kept my "cool", and gently tried to get it to move either up or (hopefully) down. I was trying this in front of a mirror as I was alone. I saw that I was getting no results and wouldn't be able to get a fully zipped up coat off over my head. I had to pull the coat apart to destroy the zipper to get it off. This zipper was only maximum 3 months old. When making it clear to the staff what happened and recent purchase of the zipper their response was "$35 for new zipper". Absolutely no "what can we do to make this right" good customer service. I won't be dealing with this company again.
