My grandmother has recently passed and left me a grandfather clock and a Dutch clock. Fritz came to her house and took the clock out of the case, and back to his shop. He took the Ditch click too. I had to get the cabinet fixed by an antique carpenter and he was very gracious about storing the clock at his shop for a couple of extra weeks until the cabinet was done. He has just come to my house and installed the clock back into the cabinet. It works beautifully, he explained how to wind and keep it functional in great detail, and very patient. He let us know the history of the clock too. The Dutch clock is also working well. My sister brought a clock over for him to evaluate- he is so ethical, he said that if he didn’t repair it, because of the type of clock it is, it wouldn’t stay working, so she shouldn’t waste her money. My grandmother would be so pleased to see this clock up and working again. I highly highly recommend Fritz and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I would not recommend Western Watch and Clock Repair to anyone. The clock repair shop that I normally use temporarily closed halfway through the pandemic, so I called Fritz, to service two clocks. My clock shop had done work on these clocks in the past but when I described them to Fritz he seemed confused. I said that I could send him some pictures by email or text, but he told me that he did not have the internet. What? He told me that he could fix anything, so I should just bring them in. I make the one hour and fifteen minute drive into Vancouver and when I arrive he says why did you only bring the movements in and not the cases. I ask him why he needs the cases when they have no impact on how movement runs. He tells me that there needs to be screws through the base of the movement to connect to the case so he can service them. What? I have a fair knowledge of clocks ,and my previous clock shop did not need the cases ever. The case is not needed to service the movements of these clocks. It seemed strange and Fritz then said he had never seen clocks like this before and that he would not be able to service them. One of the clocks is a German flip clock? Anyone with knowledge of clocks should know of the Plato clock. Before leaving, I asked Fritz if he could replace the batteries in two watches that I had brought in. His response when he looked at them was that the screws were stripped on one of the watches and he needed a key to change the battery on the other. My previous clock repair shop had replaced the batteries in both of these watches numerous times and never had an issue. You should be wary of this clock and watch repair shop.

We went in and had a wonderful experience with Fritz. He was kind, quick, and professional. He fixed my watch in a few minutes while we sat and waited. He took a look at my fiancΓ©'s watch and held onto it for a few days before determining it was beyond repair. And he didn't even charge us for the time he spent looking into that. We highly recommend him!

Stopped in to get a battery replacement on my G-Shock. Seemed like a friendly gentleman, but after unscrewing the back of the watch and putting in a new battery he went on to charge me $20 dollars!!! I have gotten a similar battery replaced and it cost me $5 at a neighbouring watch repair shop. He charged me 4x as much for <3 minute job! The battery itself costs $3 and If I had a small enough screw I could have done it myself. When I asked him for the price breakdown his response was, "it costs me to come into this place everyday, open the doors, turn on the lights, it's expensive being here in Vancouver". Well maybe you shouldn't be renting an expensive space for your watch repair business at the expense of your customers? Replaced my watch in a timely manner but a shame he overcharged. I love supporting local businesses, but do you think I will be going back to/recommending his store after this experience? Likely not. Shame to price gouge locals that'r trying to help you stay afloat. Best of luck to your business....

Went in for a battery replacement on a Tissot and was out in no time. For anyone complaining about the ~$20 for a battery replacement, I think it is worth it to have an expert taking a look any time it is opened up. He found some discoloration due to the cheap battery used the last time it was replaced. That $20 doesn't just cover the cost of the battery and the five minutes time, you're also paying for years of training and decades of experience. A bargain as far as I am concerned.

Don't try to repair your clock or watch yourself!! Bring it to this man for repair, or responsible maintenance. Don't even oil them yourself unless you bought the highly specialized oil from a clock maker or technician, and you received detailed instructions on how to apply it. If your broken clock has any hope, it lies with Fritz, the operator of this business. If he says it can't be fixed, it can't be fixed. His prices are fair, he's a charming man to deal with, and everything from the oldest antique long case clocks to the newest traditional style wrist watches are safe with him.

I brought my husband’s Tag for a new battery to Western Watch and was greeted by the lovely Fritz, a master watchmaker from Switzerland. Every other place quoted $40+ but Fritz did it for $25. while I waited for a few minutes. We had a nice conversation while he worked, and I learned some facts about Europe while we chatted. Would recommend this business to anyone. Great people. Support small business!
