West Shack Auto Service

As I am relatively new to the island I have been searching for a trusted car auto service place. It's taken quite sometime. Usually trying a dealership and finding out it's their hrs and arrangements or nothing. Which is impossible for me as I am essential on site. Immovable hours of work. I got a referral from my Girlfriend and gave West Shack Auto Service a call. They arranged for a vehicle swap out no question about it. The head gent there stating sometimes you just have to make things work. They were willing to work with my third party warranty. They completed a whole wack of services including transmission troubleshoot, rotation, oil, 100000 km service. The bill came out to alot cheaper then I was dreading. It was great news. I am grateful for their help. I guess I will be keeping them on my phone list. I was gleaming from the experience and that does not usually happen from an automotive service company if you know what I mean.

Car broke down on a visit to Sooke (Ignition wouldnt turn and broken fob). West Shack staff had a quick response and accurate estimate. I felt the price for repair was very reasonable. Owner came out and even helped drill a hole in what was left of my broken key so I could still use it if I needed to. I was able to pick up my car one day later. Thank you so much!

Steve is nicest guy! I had a squeaky belt which I came in around 4 to make an appointment to have it looked at (the receptionist was also so lovely). When Steve overheard he offered to take a look at it right there! A quick tweak and a nice chat and my belt is fixed! Fantastic customer service!!

These guys are phenomenal!  We were visiting Sooke from the mainland and the radiator went on my vehicle, then my overhead gasket went!  On our second day, my husband had a heart attack and had to go into hospital for surgery. I was due to pick him up from hospital the same day my car died on me, but couldn't use my vehicle due to it overheating!  These guys were amazing, especially Sherry, Steve and Liam!  Not only did they fit me in and fix my radiator on the same day, when my gasket went, they called around to try and hook me up with a car rental to get me to the hospital.  Due to it being almost 5.30pm the car rental places were closing and I had no way of getting to the hospital in Victoria to get my husband! Liam, the nice young mechanic offered to give me a ride to the hospital (a two hour drive!), so I could pick up my husband and he also drove us back to our accommodation.  He also picked me up the next morning and drove me to a pharmacy to pick up my husband's heart medication.  I decided to leave my car on the island as it was going to cost more to repair than the car's worth, so we had to buy another vehicle because the car rental place wouldn't allow us to take a car off the island!  West Shack Auto also offered to inspect this vehicle for us.  They also took care of my old vehicle and arranged for a  tow truck to take it away for us.  At a very stressful & upsetting time for us, these guys really came to our rescue and I cannot thank them enough.  They are extremely honest, very reliable, quick at diagnosing problems, totally professional in what they do, charge very reasonable rates and go above and beyond to get you home or where you need to go!  In my 33 years of owning cars, I have NEVER met a more caring and helpful bunch of people...thank you so very, very much. I will never forget what you did for us in our time of need. You guys rock!!

We visited sooke island for a week and we are from calgary. Suddenly my check engine light went on so i visited their shop. Told them i have check engine on and told me about the rate for diagnostics but wast told they are super busy and its gonna be in 2 weeks for the appoinment. Told them im from calgary and will be leaving the next day. Immediately they made a slot for me to check my truck and also the breaks.. technician assured me that im good to travel back and as I suspected it was my o2 sensor.. the best part was they didnt charged me and just said drive safe going home!! Awesome shop!! Cant thank them enough all i can give them was iced capp and donunuts from Tims!! Highly recommended!

Steve helped us out when all the other auto shops were closed for the long weekend. If you’re looking for good people and even better mechanics that have great attention to detail-this is the place.

Fast and affordable service, they fit me in for a winter tire change the same day I called! Very accommodating!

We had a very noisy thing happening under our car for over 60 km so I went online to see if there was a mechanic in Sooke, as we were from Nanaimo, and saw a review of exceptional service at West Shack Auto Service. We took a chance that perhaps they could take a look at our car. Even though they were very busy, they stopped to help us immediately and removed the wheel and found the noisy culprit lodged where we couldn’t get at it. To find service like this is truly remarkable and we wouldn’t hesitate to go their for any of our car needs.
